About the Blog
About the Blog first, because that’s what is most important. Glass City Jungle was designed to share information and create discussion with a focus on Toledo and Lucas County. We all have our own personal biases and opinions, but this blog is not like a personal blog where it’s all about my opinions or my feelings. It’s about our area and what is wrong, what is good and what can be better. If something is going on that you’d like to see written about? Let me know, I can be reached by email at glasscityjungle@gmail.com or you are always welcome to post a comment. Everyone is welcome to comment here, politicians, candidates, city officials, residents, non-residents basically anyone who feels they have something to share? Is welcome here. All I ask is that we try to respect each other. We obviously all care else we wouldn’t be here and while we aren’t always going to disagree? We have a chance of getting somewhere much better thru civil discussion than thru name calling.
You don’t have to identify who you are to post here, I encourage you to consider putting a name to your posts, but I do understand some people prefer to remain anonymous. I’ve tried to make the process here at the new Glass City Jungle as easy as possible for people to share their thoughts. If you have a suggestion or a feature you’d like to see here? Let me know, I’m pretty much open to trying to make this site as user friendly as I can because, this blog is not just for me, or about me.
Now..on to the personal details about me for those interested. I am a life long resident of the Toledo area, happily married and the mother of five children. Currently I reside in District 3 of South Toledo, I am a political junkie as can be seen by this blog but I am not a party affiliated type person. I normally vote for more Democrats than Republicans but I have voted for Republicans as well as Independents and Libertarians in the past and that will probably continue in the future. For me it’s the candidate first, party consideration is not a huge factor. I write a weekly column for the Toledo Free Press called “Blog it! Toledo” and I wrote a book on Ohio History inspired by what I discovered when trying to find information on my father’s family after he died. I self published “In Memory of…The Loved and the Forgotten of Ohio” thru Cafe Press and if you are interested in purchasing a copy, it can be found here. If you really love me, I do have a wishlist…I also have a non-local political blog called Liberal Common Sense where I cover various topics and more of my personal opinions on national and other issues.
Thank you to everyone that I have met in the course of doing this blog, it’s given me the opportunity to learn so much and I have been blessed with making some pretty awesome friends that without this blog I would not have had the chance to meet. Thanks also to all of you who visit and contribute because without you? I’d just be talking to myself here…
