Memorial Day 2009 Parade Photos

23 May 2009

Pictures from today’s Memorial Day Parade, some of you had told me you were having difficulty viewing the pictures using the built in slideshow I was using before, so I’ve gone back to this format to see if that works better. I was at the beginning of the parade route on Summit near Monroe. Since I was in a different location than year’s past I don’t know if turnout was lighter overall or if it was just not that heavy where my husband and I were at.

Pictures taken today at the Memorial Day Parade held in Toledo, Ohio

Elected officials/Candidates or Campaign volunteers seen in the order I believe I saw them in or close to it:

Gary Johnson – Vice Chair Lucas County Democratic Party
Steve Steel – School Board & Council candidate
Jeff Simpson – President of Young Republicans & Moody Volunteer
Joe McNamara – Toledo City Council
Paul Tetuan for Toledo City Council Volunteers
Mike Bell for Mayor volunteer
Keith Wilkowski, candidate for Mayor
Mark Clark Toledo City Council candidate
Mike Craig – Toledo City Council
Mark Sobczak – Toledo City Council
Lisa Sobecki – School Board
Bob Vasquez – School Board
Senator Teresa Fedor
Mark Davis, candidate for Judge
Adam Martinez for Toledo City Council volunteer
Ben Konop – Lucas County Commissioner & Mayoral candidate
Mark Kidman Moody for Mayor Campaign Manager

and…the MoodyMobile was spotted…
I also saw Terry Shankland but I don’t know if he’s running for Council this year…
and there were people for 9 is Fine as well as for the Casino gathering signature petitions…

    Paul Tetuan Says:

Thanks for noticing my volunteers at todays parade and taking their picture. I was also there with several other volunteers. Thanks again!

    …what, no mayor?

    LisaRenee Says:

Paul, I’m sure we’ll meet up on the campaign trail.

Brian, the Mayor was probably at the reviewing stand, I was at the beginning part of the parade.

    Brian Maxson Says:

ah yes, that would make sense.

I’m sure there were other electeds/candidates along the parade route or at the reviewing stand, I did what I always do, photograph the ones I see. Typically by the end of the year most of them know me, and then pause for a picture.

Seems like Flickr would be more efficient. That way I could see your entire photostream – even archives. Just a thought.

    Your friend.

    LisaRenee Says:

Will, probably true, I tried photobucket but they limit you to showing only the first 100 photos and I took almost 200.

    Flickr requires a yahoo id…ick…

    William Lucas Says:

oh, Lisa! You don’t have to really use the yahoo email – just create it for Flickr. I have 2 email addresses I use just for signup forms from companies that I know will probably spam me & for random purposes (like the yahoo ID that I have for Flickr). Just a thought.

    LisaRenee Says:

I know, I just have this whole mental block against creating a yahoo id. I had a very bad yahoo experience once, I never got over it.

    Lisa,

Just to let you know…Teamwork Toledo was among the crowds at the parade and the flower sale. Our effort was more focused on talking one-on-one with Toledo residents and getting petitions signed.

Parades are nice to be seen, but we want to be heard, too.

    LisaRenee Says:

Kevin, sorry that I didn’t run into you today or anyone from Teamwork Toledo. Normally I’m closer to the reviewing stand but this year I decided to see what being at the beginning part of the parade was like.

    Kevin Milliken Says:

I should correct that last statement to read “we want the citizens to be heard, too.”

That’s why we’re trying to have some one-on-one conversations as we work to get petitions signed and make it to the September ballot.

    Adam Martinez Says:

    Hi Lisa,
thanks so much for photographing my campaign manager Alexis De Anda. I also was in the parade with council members Craig, McNamara, Sobzcak. I was the one in the orange shirt. Can’t miss me

I look forward to finally meeting you!
