Representative Szollosi Applauds State of the State address
This in via e-mail – I received several of these releases today with the same subject line relating to several of our State members of the General Assembly but I am only sharing the ones from our area in full:
State Rep. Matt Szollosi Applauds State of the State Address
Commends the Governor’s “Steady Hand”
COLUMBUS- State Representative Matt Szollosi (D-49th District) attended the State of the State Address given by Governor Ted Strickland today. The address was conferred to a joint session in the House Chamber at noon.
“This afternoon, the Governor outlined today’s hard realities,” Rep. Szollosi said. “More job losses last year than any since 1932; the biggest decline in the stock market since 1931, and record foreclosures. Rather than shrink in the face of these challenges, the Governor stepped forward with bold proposals on the economy and education, without raising taxes. Ohioans can be assured that there is a steady hand on the wheel to guide us through the storm.”
During his speech, the Governor explained several aspects of his plan for education in Ohio, centering around the need for reform and accountability. Additionally, he laid out an approach to closing the more than $7 billion gap in Ohio’s budget and reinforced the call for continued attention to job creation.
Following the address, the House of Representatives convened for session led by Speaker Armond Budish. The House voted on several rules matters.
