The day Corn Hole came to Toledo…

09 Aug 2008

Okay, technically not Toledo since the Corn Hole Tournament was in Rossford at the IBEW Union Hall, but today was Governor Strickland’s Toledo Division of the Corn Hole Tournament.

You would have thought with the Governor coming that there would have been quite a few elected officials, since many of them used photos of him and them as part of their campaign material…but? Only one elected local official was there, Councilman Michael Ashford, who learned today that Corn Hole is much harder than it appears:

The Democrats of the Ohio General Assembly were well represented today, Peter Ujvagi, Edna Brown (who rocks at Corn Hole), Matt Szollosi, and candidates for the General Assembly, Jeff Bretz and Jackie Brown.

The Governor spoke for almost ten minutes to those in attendance about Ohio, why he feels it’s important that Democrats win seats in the House and the Senate and he had an announcement related to Matt Szollosi:

Whenever the Governor comes to town, it’s a photo opportunity moment for those who are there, this last video is some of those moments and video footage of our Governor, Ted Strickland, cornholing:

I had quite a bit of fun today, as you can tell when you watch the videos, especially the first one, a thank you to Councilman Ashford for being such a good sport in letting me video tape him today and for providing some pretty good entertainment.

It was a joy to attend the event, it was also fun to see Ashford have a good time but it was unfortunate that he was “injured” during the Brown & Ashford challenge. Maybe he’ll challenge her to second round so that we can see who the true Corn Player is.

I didn’t play, $50.00 a person is more than our current household budget could do.

    It looked like fun though.

It’s good to see Mike Adams is going after UT for its ridiculous firing of Crystal Dixon. Once you are in Adams’ crosshairs, look out!
