New Republican Chair and his latest song/video “Blood, White, and Blue”? – Pulled!
I wanted to share the video but I didn’t want to create any copyright issues, so I headed off to YouTube to find the song written by Jon Stainbrook’s company, Sonic Tailor (The site has now been pulled and the video is no longer online, the Google cache still shows the site but the video link has also been pulled) and performed by a band called “Nam ‘69″ which appears to be an anti-war type ditty called, “Blood, White and Blue.” I couldn’t find it, so you’ll have to watch it from the Sonic Tailor website, but this song is not to be confused by one with the same exact title, Blood White And Blue performed by Studded Youth at Just Bills that they state is one of their original songs and was added over a year ago or the same title by “Free Money” or…the more well known “Rise Against” with their Blood-red, White & Blue that they recorded in 2003.
It’s going to be interesting to see if there is any reaction out there in Republican land to one of the county chairs being involved in creating songs/videos like this. I have to wonder if Jon didn’t leave this up on purpose just to see what the reaction would be, especially with all of the zooming in on piercings, and the whole production aspect of how this video was done, especially the guy with the split tongue…Not to be really critical but it’s not what I would say is a music video that entailed quite a bit of production time/skill and the domain that the video says to visit for the band, NAM69.COM, hasn’t been updated since October 31, 2007 and is just a blank page though the actual song has a CCR feel to it. Given Jon’s attention to copyright/trademark issues it seem strange that he’d create a song with a name others have used or perhaps he has some future litigating to do…
So, is this a joke or John McCain? Meet the new members of the Lucas County Republican Party, who knows. Either way, it’s an interesting video presentation of the variety of different piercings people can select.
wow, disturbing
June 30th, 2008 at 10:55 pmI entered boot camp in 1969. I wish Jon could have been in our Company. We would have had fun with him….especially if he likes cockroaches. We treated them like pets. We had no choice. What a joy it was.
June 30th, 2008 at 11:01 pmI chose not to endure what has become a Toledo Political Sideshow where Jon is the “ringmaster” and the republicans are his minions.
Nope, I’m just going to sit back here with the rest of you and laugh at Jon and his juvenile mentality.
Anyone have an “over/under” pool I can get in on as to how long these antics will be tolerated by the REAL Republicans?
July 1st, 2008 at 5:34 amThe stain is a sick pup.
July 1st, 2008 at 6:49 amIt’s only Rock and Roll, free speech and all that.
July 1st, 2008 at 10:23 amInteresting, I hadnt heard about this before…thanks im gonna watch that right now
July 1st, 2008 at 1:35 pmAnd I didn’t see Stainbrook in a single frame.
What’s the big deal?
I’ll bet Stainbrook kicks cats, too…!!!
July 1st, 2008 at 3:41 pmNever said Jon was in a single frame, he’s the song writer and video creator and the owner of the company which I thought you knew Rogue…and I don’t think Jon kicks cats, I don’t know his personal opinion on cats but I do know he loves dogs and I don’t think he’s the type of person that would hurt any animal.
I actually remember a story he told me about him endangering his own safety to save someone from being hurt by a dog…
What’s the big deal? Most Republicans don’t make videos with a revolution/anti-war theme.
July 1st, 2008 at 4:13 pmits simple: anti-war sells, and most republicans can smell a profit. As small as it may be, his music business is just that. A business.
As for the song title, I think it’s less likely that he copied it, more likely that they all came up with it independently. It’s kind of an obvious title, if anything knock him for lack of creativity, but its not uncommon. I mean even Dylan and Elvis Costello have separate songs called “I Want You”. And there must be a dozen different songs called “Stay” or “Rock N Roll”.
July 2nd, 2008 at 12:08 amOk, this is driving me nuts. Am I incompetent or is the video of Nam 69’s version not linked on the Sonic Tailor site, or You Tube?
The other bands performances are irrelevant to Stainbrook correct? Or are they likewise singing lyrics he wrote?

July 2nd, 2008 at 12:25 pmYou are not nuts – They pulled the site and replaced it with the 48 Rouge elephants one. Guess they weren’t proud of the work.

July 2nd, 2008 at 12:32 pmThe google cache however is still online:
here and I have screen printed it as well as saved the other material.

July 2nd, 2008 at 12:36 pmIt would have been interesting, honest, and possibley refreshing for Stainbrook to state: “I am a businessman who has been involved in the music industry for years, that industry thrives on artistic dissent and my business dealings with groups such as Nam 69 is distinct and separate from my political position.”
Rather than change the website, try to limit or prevent any “damage,” and engage in the anticipated waffle/denial that is coming.

July 2nd, 2008 at 3:23 pmSooo…you’re not a good Republican if you’re against war?
July 2nd, 2008 at 3:41 pmno but then your a ron paul supporter not an obama supporter rogue
July 2nd, 2008 at 3:43 pmRogue, how many other county party chairs are involved in the making of anti-war videos/songs? I’m surprised you aren’t taking credit for the website that appears at the link now…
And as our resident Asshole Lawyer pointed out, if there was nothing to be ashamed of, why pull the website and the song? That just raises more questions with once again? No answers.
July 2nd, 2008 at 3:49 pmI don’t know? How many county party chairs are there? And have you looked at them as hard as you’ve looked at Stainbrook.
Lisa, you seem to find sinister motives behind action, or inaction Jon makes.
You sure you’re not fixating?
July 2nd, 2008 at 5:02 pmOr…maybe you are assuming I’m doing something I’m not. I asked a question in response to your question about Republicans not being anti-war. I thought perhaps since you are much more expert in the ways of Republicans than I am that you’d know if there were lots of Republican chairs out there who were anti-war.
I thought it was interesting, evidently it was controversial since it was pulled and to be honest I did hesitate since posting anything about Jon ends up turning into an attack on me. However, if I stop posting about things I think might be of interest because of online or offline harrassment then maybe it’d be time for me to quit blogging.
I’m not ready to quit yet.
July 2nd, 2008 at 5:07 pmAnd for the record? I don’t kick cats either, though I admit that I have accidently stepped on one or two that tried to kill me, especially when trying to walk down stairs.

July 2nd, 2008 at 5:10 pmAnd do we have independent evidence of your benevolence to cats, LoL.
I’m not interested in making this personal, but you, and T. Neff, don’t seem to let this alone. You answer every question, or challenge to your position.
Sometimes, ya gotta post, and let it go.
July 2nd, 2008 at 5:22 pmSometimes I sit back and only jump in when I have to try to play mediator, sometimes a person will post something that inspires me to ask questions. You inspire me to do that at times Rogue, which you should take as a compliment.
As a tiny btw, I wasn’t the one who found this website, if the original finder of it wants to come forward they will. All I can take credit for is searching out the song titles and thinking it was interesting enough to share. I don’t post everything that comes my way…

July 2nd, 2008 at 5:27 pmDissent and debate are the foundations of our country and patriotism. Disobediance likewise can be the seed that sews proper political change. Necessary in our country NO, (at least not yet).
Are there anti-War Republicans? Depends on how you use the term. I hope all Republicans are anti-war. I personally have never met a PRO-WAR Republican in a global sense. No one loves war, wants war, or seeks war; however, war is often necessary, this is an INCOVEINENT TRUTH. Are there Republicans against THIS WAR? Yes.
The issues I think Stainbrook’s musical stylings raise is more to the politics of fear, political correctness, and the fact that its impossible in our current political culture to stand on principle Or that the system forces out the steadfast and enables the wafflers on both sides to take the stage.

July 3rd, 2008 at 8:34 amThe term, war, has been become a subject of debate and usage also.
War typically meant a conflict between parties or countries.
Vietnam showed us the ideological side of conflicts.
The war in Afghanistan was about the harboring of the Taleban and the support they gave a group that attacked us.
The war in Iraq was about an alleged threat to us and the world community with no end in sight.
Next up, regime change part two in Iran. We supported the dictatorial leadership of the Shah when it was in our favor to do so, and now we want to topple the government there to install one favorable to our interests.
Dems and Repubs, support this idea.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:51 amI don’t disagree that under that definition that most people would be “anti-war”. I’m sure there are Republicans that are against “this” war just as there are Democrats who support it. All we have to do is look at Congress, despite the Democratic claims that they are “against the war in Iraq” they’ve continued to fund it and voted for it to begin in the first place. If we were to be honest, a chair from either party locally that produced videos with a devil and the words “kill, kill, kill” being shown that is a bit outside of the mainstream would get attention and the claims made on the website as to other companies worked for would be looked into. Perhaps the argument you suggested earlier would have been used, however instead the website and the video was pulled.
That written, this statement that you wrote:
I agree with, completely. It’s hard to find anyone who stands on principle anymore, because the majority of us don’t demand accountability. We continue to accept the waffling, the games, and all the rest. It’s more convenient for way to many of us to remain quiet than to stand up and demand answers or action. We fall for the hype and the false promises made over and over again.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:24 am“All we have to do is look at Congress, despite the Democratic claims that they are “against the war in Iraq” they’ve continued to fund it and voted for it to begin in the first place.”
Of course they have.
To do so other wise leaves one open for attacks on patriotism, soft on terrorists, soft on defense of the country, practice Un-American activities, and so on.
All quite detrimental when one is running for office.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:31 amFor those of you who have not seen the video, it can be watched or embedded from the myspace TV site:
