Pajama update!
As mentioned previously the Cleveland Plain Dealer had reported that Ohio Democratic Chair Chris Redfern stated that he was told by Attorney General Marc Dann that there was no pajama incident involving Jessica Utovich. Today’s Blade has a breaking news update from the Associated Press relating to Attorney general says employee never in pajamas in his apartment.
Attorney General Marc Dann denies that his 28-year-old scheduler was ever wearing pajamas in his apartment.
The two 26-year-old women say scheduler Jessica Utovich was in the home in her pajamas the night one of them alleges she was sexually harassed by 50-year-old Anthony Gutierrez.
Jennings, the office spokesman, said Thursday that Utovich declined comment.
Whether or not she was wearing pajamas, she did say that at least on one occasion she stayed the night there and woke up with Gutierrez..
April 10th, 2008 at 3:56 pmThere are three women involved, one Jessica who depending on who is making the statement was wearing pajamas at the condo. Then the two women who filed the sexual harassment suit, it was one of them that woke up next to Guitierrez.
Jessica has not made a sexual harassment claim and she has also not commented publicly on any of this so far.
April 10th, 2008 at 4:01 pmExactly, Jessica may have been partnered with one of the other two house mates, I suspect. Wonder which? hmmm
April 10th, 2008 at 6:26 pmAnd a lot of people thought Dann would be the better choice for AG? Please! These politicians are pretty much all alike. Just glad I wasn’t there; I don’t wear pajamas!
April 10th, 2008 at 6:50 pmYea, and I am suprised those guys allowed that girl to wear them too! Must be pansy liberals!
April 10th, 2008 at 6:59 pmWell I guess if Dann says that she didn’t have the PJs on, maybe that means he was there that night? Maybe not.
April 10th, 2008 at 7:16 pmI can’t imagine how he would know she had on PJs or not unless he could see em with his own eyes. If he wasn’t there maybe the highly credible Guitierrez told him it was so.
April 10th, 2008 at 7:22 pmMarc Dann has been racking his brain trying to remember a night when Utovich stopped by the “headquarters” in a one-piece flannel zip-up footed pajama. He can’t picture it because she was probably wearing those stupid patterned flannel pants girls under 25 think are soooo cool to wear everywhere. Or sweatpants.
I was a “political operative” right out out college and call me crazy but I wore suits. Never had a problem being misunderstood or underestimated.
Loved the way Wonkette covered this story btw. Comedy gold if you don’t mind a little raunch.
Somehow I can’t imagine Subodh Chandra in this compromising position as AG.
April 10th, 2008 at 7:24 pmjrs, Wonkette was funny. For those who missed it?
link.
Not Again he was there, he was going to order Hawaiian Pizza.

April 10th, 2008 at 7:33 pmIt was mighty generous of the dan to withdraw himself from the investigation.
April 10th, 2008 at 7:34 pmdenies the “28-year-old scheduler was ever wearing pajamas in his apartment” Well maybe she was wearing something else or nothing at all. Dann did not say she was fully clothed at all times. I wonder if that was a phone conversation. It would be interesting to see if he was smiling or winking as he said that
This story is bizzare.
April 10th, 2008 at 8:16 pm12 Chris Myers Says:
“Well maybe she was wearing something else or nothing at all. Dann did not say she was fully clothed at all times.”
Well maybe this Redfern dildo will clarify things tomorrow.
April 10th, 2008 at 8:32 pmThe Redfern dildo? Oh no!! The pajamas opened from the rear?
April 10th, 2008 at 8:48 pmI don’t think it’s been confirmed as to what type of a sex toy it was as I try not to laugh because I never thought I’d be blogging about sex toys….

April 10th, 2008 at 8:52 pmUh, I think “Redfern dildo” is in reference to a person and not the actual tool. Tough crowd!
April 10th, 2008 at 10:10 pmSorry Joe, though you still made me laugh, there was a statement in the sexual harassment suit that a sex toy was given as a “gift”.

April 10th, 2008 at 10:12 pmI always thought Redfern is a tool.
April 11th, 2008 at 6:03 amI don’t think Redfern is a tool, I know, based on example, that Redfern is a blithering incompetient douchebag.
April 11th, 2008 at 6:28 amwas I the only one in my young childhood to grab that big red rubber bag with the hose and really cool tube with the holes in it off the back of the bathroom door and play with it in the tub while unsupervised?
I ain’t gonna say how I played with it, I just wondered if I’m the only one.
April 11th, 2008 at 6:33 amI did not know there was an actual “tool” involved here! I was in Columbus all day yesterday on business and the Dayton Daily News was on a table. In that edition they chronicled Dann’s ethical incidents since he has been in office for roughly 15 months now. I was surprised that there were around eight incidents! And he sold himself as the ethical reformer.
April 12th, 2008 at 7:27 pmI thought it should be noted that the Dispatch reported on April 11 that what Cindy Stankowski actuall said to state EEO officer Angela Smedlund about Utovich that nite was that she was wearing “comfortable clothes”. Smedlund apparently interpreted that to mean pajamas all on her own. No comment from Smedlund for the Dispatch article.
Oy…
April 13th, 2008 at 8:23 amWhy can’t I leave this alone! I was listening to AM 610 radio out of Columbus today and the Columbus Dispatch filed a public information request for copies of e-mails between Dann and some of his staffers regarding this incident. So far he is refusing to give them up.
*Why do I listen to Columbus am 610 and Detroit am 760 WJR? It gets real old listening to our local AM station rail against the City, etc. It’s such a negative.
April 13th, 2008 at 5:14 pmJrs, thanks that is very true and I’m glad you notated that is where the “pajama’s comment was made”, it was also pointed out in that reporting that one of the women who made the sexual harassment claim spotted Jessica leaving Dann’s condo on more than one occasion early in the morning. Evidently her condo was within view of his.
Joe, it’s tempting to follow because it’s sex and politics, it’s hard to avoid the combination of that type of a story. We have the sexual harassment suit but also questions being raised about the personal life of an elected official. At times we do overly obsess about their personal lives but this is one that does contain some valid areas of interest.
