Man on the street voter turnout reports…Update!
More court orders: As per Fox Toledo:
The chairman of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections says a federal judge has ordered the board to keep 15 precincts in Cleveland open until 9 p.m. as well.
The secretary of state’s office earlier said Barack Obama’s campaign filed a federal lawsuit to get a voting extension in Franklin and Cuyahoga counties, alleging a shortage of ballots.
Big UPDATE: Election results delayed as per Fox Toledo due to a ballot shortage earlier in the day in Sandusky County. It’s going to be a longggggg night.
Update 7:07 – Back from voting, I was 226 which is pretty good for for my precinct and I took part of exit polling.
Update 4:13 – Cleveland Plain Dealer reporting large numbers of Republicans switching to a Democratic ballot in Cleveland, so it’s not just happening here…
3:55 – reports of voters being given the wrong ballot this morning in Point Place where Toledo voters were given a Washington Local paper ballot when the machines for that precinct were down. No word on how this situation was resolved but it happened to over a half dozen.
Update 3:28 – Friendship Park in the Point, Ottawa River School are reporting steady traffic. Kent Branch Library also has reported heavy voting traffic. More reports of Republicans switching to Democratic ballots.
Update 3:04 – Calls I’m getting in are reporting very heavy voter traffic, examples, 230 at one precinct in Sylvania Township, over 75 at one precinct at the Union Hall on Jackman. I’m also hearing reports that there has been a successful push by city workers to their friends and families on Issue One with estimations by several from what they are hearing that Issue One is being supported more than expected. Reports of Republicans asking for Democratic ballots seem to be happening more in South Toledo as opposed to other polling locations at this point. It sounds like Sylvania City in some precincts are reporting high numbers 317 at the Senior Senior.
From what I’m hearing voter turnout is high, lines in some places when the polls opened with reports on WSPD this morning and verified by others that Republicans are requesting Democratic ballots. If you have not voted early, when you vote, let us know how busy your polling location was and anything of interest you’d like to share. I’ll update as the information is released on how voter turnout is being reported by the media and the BOE.

I’m surprised you didn’t put a “Breaking News Alert” on the title to make it look like a Drudge Report as if the sky is falling.
March 4th, 2008 at 12:28 pmI’m saving that for later since I think we won’t have numbers till tomorrow.

March 4th, 2008 at 12:40 pmNo numbers until tomorrow Lisa? They’ve been rolling in a few hours after the closing of the polls in the other states. Or were you talking about some numbers other than who and what issues won?
March 4th, 2008 at 1:30 pmPrecinct7-L,
I voted shortly before noon, walked right in and voted.
No lines and I was # 147 in my precinct.
March 4th, 2008 at 1:34 pmMark, there is a record number of absentee and pre-votes which will take time and there is already talk of extending hours in some parts of Ohio. All which mean the chances of having numbers tonight are slim.
March 4th, 2008 at 1:39 pmWe voted at 8:30 AM, someone was walking out as we were walking in, one or two people were voting inside, and 2 more came in directly after us. I was #44.
March 4th, 2008 at 1:40 pmI voted before 11AM. The parking lot was mostly full. There was no line, but there were quite a few people at the machines. Everything went quickly and smoothly.
March 4th, 2008 at 1:41 pm(simulated helocopter sound) reporting light traffic throughout the merto area. Traffic cams show light traffic with no delays but the 13 newsroom is bustling with activity. Looks like Stan Stachek brought in a pizza. Will report if traffic around the polling places tighten up, until then, bundle up, it looks really cold out there! (simulated helocopter sound)
March 4th, 2008 at 1:43 pmLOL @ Brian!
Just got back from voting out here in the boondocks. I’m happy to report that there was a constant influx of voters while I was there and during the time it took me to fill out my paperwork and provisional ballot (forgot to change my address when we moved last fall), I counted only one Republican ballot that was requested. The poll workers were wonderful and polite, especially considering that I was only the 2nd provisional ballot for the precinct. From what I heard, they were up to #123 in voter count, which for a district in the boondocks is pretty good!
March 4th, 2008 at 1:52 pmJust voted at Fulton, 4 voters in booth, 2 left with me, 5 went in. No candidate reps present. No issues reps present.
