Fedor ousted from leadership role…impact on NWO?

10 Jan 2008

I read about this earlier on Buckeye State Blog but wanted to wait for more details before blogging about it here. Jeff on Ohio Daily Blog has additional information beyond the links to the Dispatch article and the Plain Dealer article.

It appears from all accounts that while there are some questions regarding the protocol used for the vote that given 11 of the 12 members wanted a change in leadership that even if procedural issues were raised it would be a moot point. The question on the minds of some from this area is what impact will this have on NWO? Due to the change in power NWO once again has no representation from a leadership role standpoint in the Senate:

Senate Democrats changed their entire leadership team. Sen. Shirley Smith, D-Cleveland, takes over as the new assistant minority leader; Sen. Lance Mason as minority whip, a one-step promotion for him; and Sen. Capri Cafaro, D-Hubbard, will be the assistant minority whip.

While Senator Ray Miller, who is credited as being a huge part of Senator Fedor winning the minority leader seat, back in November of 2006 is quoted in the Cleveland Plain Dealer as putting a “best face” on this, the article also states:

The stone-faced look on Senate Minority Leader Teresa Fedor’s face said it all Wednesday afternoon.

As the Toledo Democrat walked alone past Statehouse reporters waiting for Senate Democrats to emerge from a private caucus, Fedor brusquely declined to comment about what had just taken place behind closed doors. But it wasn’t hard to guess.

Minutes later, the news was official — the Senate Democratic caucus had voted to oust Fedor and install Sen. Ray Miller, a Columbus Democrat, to head the 12-member group. Miller said the unusual mid-term vote, which occurred after a pair of closed door meetings, was unanimous.

Fedor is of course still the Senator that represents our portion of Ohio, and that has not changed, but given some of the hopes that the three C’s would not be so quick to forget Toledo is a part of Ohio still existed, it can’t help be wondered what type of an impact this will have on NWO. Especially given it does not appear that this was a willing step down from the position…

Ohio Daily Blog is reporting that Fedor is considering resigning from her seat in the Senate. Does anybody know whether there is any truth to that rumor?

I have not heard that rumor. However, I really have to question the thinking of the Senate D caucus to put personal ambitions over the good of the caucus. State Sen. Miller is rumored to want run for US Senate in 2010. However, there are several bigger names who are better positioned for the run (Lee FIsher, Rich Cordray, Tim Ryan, Paul Hackett, etc.). Politics is a nasty business. I hope Sen. Fedor stays put and continues to fight for the people of her district.

Teresa was rated as the #2 least effective legislator in Ohio, either House or Senate. This has little to do with Miller’s ambitions and it is not handing off the baton as it was spun. Teresa was a terrible floor leader, and many are upset with her crappy recruiting for this fall’s elections. The other Senators felt the best way to move ahead is to get rid of their deadweight.

The lack of talent, “brain drain”, in Toledo politics is being reflected in the halls of the state legislature. But could you imagine how embarassing it would be to have some of our council yahoos in the legislature?

I agree wholeheartedly! There is a serious lack of leadership amongst the elected officials and any new faces that attempt to bring fresh new ideas are told that they have to “pay their dues” while NW Ohio continues to decline.

It’s time for the people to stand up against the void and say enough is enough! If Fedor wasn’t doing the job, the Democratic Caucus did what they felt was best! Ineffective is just what it is, INEFFECTIVE! Get rid of dead weight and move forward! Who, in Toledo, can really represent the regular people? It’s a question that needs to be asked because I am utterly disgusted with these “so-called” leaders!

There are a few other elected officials that need to be given their walking papers, on City Council and in the County!

I personally think Chad Quigley has more eptness than Teresa Fedor.

Teresa Fedor had her head up Chris Redfern’s rump so deep the ring runs around her hips.

Which is why I place the blame directly on Chris Redfern’s shoulders.

This loser couldn’t delegate his way out of tic-tac-toe.

Nope, you’re now seeing the results of Chris Redfern’s abilities. Chris likes to lipstick crap and sweep it away, whcih is why you’ll never see NWO represented in Columbus.

We look like a bunch of retards up here, and the “3 c’s” are embaressed, and who can blame them? They can run their own shows without supervision.

Just let John Irish and Dom wander about behind the scenes, and the Dems get what they deserve.

And personally, Chris gives a crap about anything north of Lima and east of Port Clinton and it shows.

It shows both how Toledo is the ignorant and embaressing stepchild and how pathetic a Democrat Chris really is.

    Accept it.

Interesting thread. Just for the record, I didn’t report that Sen. Fedor was thinking about retiring, I just said that it had occurred to me as a question: would she? What made me think of it was the quick exit of Sen. Kimberly Zurz after she lost out to Fedor for the leadership slot early last year. But, I had no information that Fedor was considering resigning, it was just a rumination.

Why does this news regarding Teresa Fedor not surprise me?

Could it be because she is a Toledo democrat?

Good riddance to her if she does quit. It would probably be the best decision she’s ever made for the common good.

Well I guess she better toe the line, or they will kick her ass right back to Toledo.
