Ohio Voter Database still way out of date…

27 Oct 2007

Every time I check the Ohio voter database, I’m reminded how seriously messed up it is. I have not lived in Holland for almost four years, I’ve voted at other polling locations after our move from Holland and then our move to here in South Toledo, where I did vote in person and I am listed on the voter rolls at that precinct. The Lucas County voter database that I downloaded shows me still living at my old Holland address, and the voter inquiry data base at the Secretary of State website, shows me at the wrong address, lists me as voting this last election (which I voted from at this address) voting from a previous address the year before but doesn’t list all of the previous times I’ve voted when I lived at the old address that they have listed. Ironically my husband who changed his address as far as voter registration purposes after me? His correct address and his voting history shows up at the correct address and gives the correct voting history both in the Lucas County database and the Secretary of State voter inquiry.

Even more bothersome is our landlord who has not lived here in over ten years, is still registered to vote at this address and I just recently received a card from the Lucas County Board of Elections for him as well as I’m guessing a previous tenant since I received a card for that person as well.

I’m sure I can’t be the only person in the State of Ohio who is listed under the wrong address or does not have a correct voting history listed…Or has had problems getting an absentee ballot, I never did find out what happened to my request for an absentee ballot the last general election except knowing that it should have been able to get from the Post Office on S. Detroit to Downtown Toledo but appears to have vanished into thin air.

So…check your information at the Secretary of State and see if a) your address is correct and if the years you’ve voted are correctly listed (I don’t believe they list before 2000), I’d be interested in learning how many of you have incorrect information listed as our own informal research project.

I do not show up in the records even though I am registered.

All the technology in the world is worth nothing if the people behind it or using it are the problem.

    Lisa,

My info, as well as Mrs. T’s is correct.

Of course, we haven’t moved in 28 years, so that may account for it.

Computers may lie, but stone tablets, NEVER

Looks like my info is correct. I’ve lived here for over 10 years.

LOL@ stone tablets. My info is off too. It’s been 18 months and at least 2 elections since we moved and I’m still listed in South Toledo.

Hilarious! I moved well over 3 years ago and have voted in that township/precinct twice, yet I’m still listed at an address that I moved away from over 4 years ago. So sad that the technology isn’t there and/or simply isn’t being utilized to it’s fullest ability!

Someone also needs to tell the BOE that the links for the different precincts have \ where they should have /, but even after changing those, none of the links work, they all go to “page cannot be found” pages.
