Szollosi announces Controlling Board grants LGB 6.9 million contract for TPS
Last week Representative Ujvagi sent out a release on the Xunlight loan as did the Governor. This release from the office of Representative Matt Szollosi repeats that information but the 6.9 million for construction management for Toledo Public Schools to be performed by LGB is new, it’s after the fold:
Rep. Szollosi Announces State Approval for Nearly $11 Million for Local Projects
Controlling Board Releases Funds for Alternative Energy Development, School Construction Management
COLUMBUS – Ohio House Speaker Pro Tempore Matt Szollosi (D-Toledo) announced today that the state will be providing nearly $11 million for two Toledo area projects. The Controlling Board of Ohio has approved $4.06 million in funds to assist a local company in developing solar cells as well as $6.9 million for construction management services in the Toledo City School District.
Xunlight Corporation, a solar cell firm based in Toledo, will use the $4.06 million to complete development of its first 25 megawatt solar cell production line. The funding comes in the form of an Advanced Energy Job Stimulus Loan, a part of the state’s bipartisan jobs stimulus package intended to spur innovation in alternative energy while creating lasting jobs.
“Alternative energy development is one of the fastest growing business sectors across our country,” said Rep. Szollosi. “Despite these tough economic times, Toledo has become the largest manufacturer of solar cells in North America. The state’s assistance to Xunlight is a testament of our commitment to our leadership in new technologies as well as growth of our local economy.”
In a separate measure, the Controlling Board has granted LGB, LLC a $6.9 million contract for construction management in the Toledo City School District. The company, based in Columbus, will consult on district-wide classroom facilities and K-12 facilities improvements.
