TFP: C-3PO on the cover, Toledo State Hospital Cemetery Reclamation Project and more…
Those of you who know me, know I’m a bit of a Star Wars fan, I’ve had many a light saber battle where as Darth Mom, I’ve been rarely beaten…Probably because my children start laughing, but a win is a win. This week’s cover story in the Toledo Free Press is an interview that Michael Miller had with Anthony Daniels, ‘Star Wars’ tour energizes C-3PO actor, in advance of Daniels coming to Toledo as part of the Star Wars In Concert coming to the Lucas County Arena on December 1st.
The story on the Toledo State Hospital Cemetery Reclamation Project, where it’s reported that the The Lilly Foundation will donate $2,500 thanks to Larry Wanucha is also a recommended read. As someone who has followed the history of those buried and forgotten as well as having written a book about my experiences in trying to find family members grave sites in Ohio, I applaud the Lilly Foundation and Larry Wanucha. I think he deserves a moment of ((applause)).
I’m personally the topic of one of the articles in this week’s Toledo Free Press, surrounding two blog posts that I wrote, one in particular that involved a media report from the Toledo Free Press. I’d love to say this is the first time I’ve been threatened by someone, with legal action or illegal action, unfortunately it’s not — but in this scenario, Former UT dean threatens legal action against blog, I refused to remove the post and it did not appear that he had contacted either one of the two media sources cited to demand they remove their material. He was contacted by the Toledo Free Press, he referred questions to his attorney.
As stated in the Toledo Free Press article, I don’t make it a practice to remove posts, I remove comments if they are in violation of the rules of the site. If a scenario were to exist where the original material reported was incorrect? I would have updated. In this scenario nothing reported has been stated to have been inaccurate. It’s also not the first time someone has accused me of being racist, along with hate mail, the threatening and hate phone calls, I take that in stride and just try to continue to focus on what the goal of this blog is, though I fully admit I had no idea when I started this blog how petty and vindictive some could be. I could let that stop me, or I can strive for something better, while never pretending I’m perfect.
There is quite a bit more in this week’s Toledo Free Press, online and in print; worth enjoying while perhaps you like me, wait for Hall & Oates new box set.

The Lilly Foundation, Larry Wanucha, and others need to put more attention to the other mental health issues of our area which includes 2 mental health consumers died of heat strokes in South Toledo, Connecting Point issue, the Lucas County Mental & Recovery Board along with Lucas County
Mental Health Agencies and Organizations inadequate care for many
Locas County Mental Health Consumers.
Allow those at the State Hospital Cemetery REST IN PEACE and FOCUS ON
November 29th, 2009 at 6:55 pmTHE MENTAL HEALTH CONSUMERS THAT ARE
CURRENTLY LIVING!
We don’t focus on those who have died, or give them the respect they deserve, go into almost any cemetery and you’ll see that first hand. Considering the work Wanucha does in his day job? I am not going to criticize him for believing the dead should receive more honor and respect.
It’s not the Lilly Foundation that needs to address the current scenario with heat strokes, the Connecting Point or the Mental Health Recovery Services Board. I agree that needs to be done, but I also feel those who care about others, the living and the dead, deserve kudos.
November 29th, 2009 at 7:02 pmFor some years now the Lucas county Mental Health System gives inadequte care to local mental health consumers I guess that in this scene
November 29th, 2009 at 7:13 pmthey would rather allow them to die
and give them the respect at the cemeteries rather than when they are alive.
By the way Lisa Renee, Larry Wanucha’s performance at this day time job along
with his co-workers, staff, and administration of Neighborhood Properties, Inc.has a history of no respect at all for many of their tenants.
Everyone else working in the Lucas County Mental Health System just close
November 29th, 2009 at 7:37 pmtheir eyes to it all for their Code of
Silence.
WWhat?? Certain individuals try to releive their conscience and feel guilty for their actions towards the living so try to look as a great person themselves by honoring the dead
but still do not show respect for
humans who are currently alive??
Respect amd Honor are for the living and the dead could care less even it was not given to them when they were alive.
It is certain individuals that want the respect and honor for themselves and not the dead.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:33 pmI don’t know where DD BOOTS gets his information, but Iknow several clients of Neighborhood Properties including my son and they do a wonderful job with them. As far as the ce3metary I think it is a good thing to do. I stop in several times a year to look around
November 30th, 2009 at 9:26 amWell, Gerald I have no idea who your
November 30th, 2009 at 10:13 amson is but believe me I have proven
info of constant disrepect and no help
at all from workers, staff and administration at Neghborhood Properties, Inc.for many of their tenants.
By the way, Neighborhood Properties, Inc. and the Lucas County Mental Health
November 30th, 2009 at 10:24 amSystem just want to stick mental health consumers in
apartments alone, give them legalized medicine, and THEN COMPLETELY IGNORE AND FORGET THEM@
Lisa, have you seen some of the things prnhrt is writing about you on Swampbubbles?
November 30th, 2009 at 9:41 pmNope, I’ve gotten a few emails, but beyond posting what I had to say, it’s a closed issue for me and Chris can allow what he wants to allow to happen over there, we have different expectations as to what’s acceptable.
She was banned, she knows why, she knows what she’s written via email and people will make up their own minds. I have no intention of creating drama on someone else’s or my own blog. There are more important issues.
November 30th, 2009 at 9:47 pmSince the beginning of humans on earth
many, many humans died without names or numbers on their graves.
Maybe everyone needs to dig up their
front and back yards to be sure that
there are no Indian, pioneer, or early
settlers human bones under there.
Don’t you want to give them dignity and
December 2nd, 2009 at 12:57 amrespect too??
It is impossible to correct the wrongdoings of
the past only by having constant “Pity Parties”.
To correct the constant wrongdoings and stigma of the past
December 3rd, 2009 at 3:22 amwhich still occur in the present day living
people need to STAND UP, SPEAK UP to fight the
current day wrong doings, issues, and stigma so
that it does not continue in the future!
