RNC sends out “2009 Obama Agenda Survey”

14 Nov 2009

I “borrowed” this questionnaire that was sent to my husband from the Republican National Committee…The questions that have received previous media coverage from the Washington Post when this survey was sent out to Virgina residents:

Do you agree with Barack Obama’s budget plan that will lead to a $2.3 trillion dollar debt over the next ten years?

Do you believe that the federal government has gone too far in bailing out failing banks, insurance companies and the auto industry?

Do you support amnesty for illegal immigrants?

Should English be the official language of the United States?

Are you in favor of granting retroactive Social Security eligibility to illegal immigrants who gain U.S. citizenship through an amnesty program?

Are you in favor of the expanded welfare benefits and unlimited eligibility (no time, education or work requirements) that Democrats in Congress are pushing to pass?

Do you believe that Barack Obama’s nominees for federal courts should be immediately and unquestionably approved for their lifetime appointments by the U.S. Senate?

Do you believe that the best way to increase the quality and effectiveness of public education in the U.S. is to rapidly expand federal funding while eliminating performance standards and accountability?

Do you support the creation of a national health insurance plan that would be administered by bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.?

Do you believe that the quality and availability of healthcare will increase if the federal government dictates pricing to doctors and hospitals?

Are you confident that new medicines and medical treatments will continue to be developed if the federal government controls prescription drug prices and sets profit margins for research and pharmaceutical companies?

Are you in favor of creating a government-funded “Citizen Volunteer Corps” that would pay young people to do work now done by churches and charities, earning Corps Members the same pay and benefits given to military veterans?

Are you in favor of reinstituting the military draft, as Democrats in Congress have proposed?

Do you believe that the federal government should allow the unionization of Department of Homeland Security employees who serve in positions critical to the safety and security of our nation?

Do you support Democrats’ drive to eliminate workers’ right to a private ballot when considering unionization of their place of employment?

And the answers from most Americans are:

No, yes, no, yes, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Maybe most conservatives, but most of the questions are not really accurate to give an honest answer.

The Obama administration and its supporters are quick to condemn their opponents for making observations that are critical of the administration’s policies, but they rarely address the substance of the opposing argument.

Taking the 15 questions above at face value, I stand firm on my answers, as do many from the center to the right.

If these questions are suggesting something that you think includes a flawed assumption, please identify the flaw, correct it and we’ll debate the merits of the issue going forward.

We don’t see much of that approach these days. From what I’ve seen (present company exepted, Lisa), if you disagree with Obama, you’re a damn liar – end of discussion.

I had a call from the NRA a couple of nights ago. They asked me if I supported Hilary Clinton and the UN voting to take away every American’s gun.

    She didn’t like my response…

The link included with the post points out some of the material that was questioned, I didn’t think it was necessary to point out the numbers used for the debt were not correct, or that the items being stated as being supported by Democrats is not accurate either, especially the Citizen Volunteer Corps. Most of those who read this blog are more politically savvy than your average citizen.

I firmly believe you can disagree with the President, as a Democrat I don’t always agree with the Democrats in office, including the President. What I take issue with is a lack of transparency, and I think it’s clear that these questions were worded in a manner that was not completely honest. But? That’s how fundraising works and my party is not always the beacon of light and transparency either.

    They call it push polling.

Bush II used them very effectively against against McCain back in 2000. They’d call and ask people things like “Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?”

    LisaRenee Says:

This was in written form and included a request for a donation, but I don’t disagree it’s similar to push polling, which unfortunately Democrats have also done though the Bush/McCain item referenced does go down in history as one of the most known push polling incidents.

    Not Again Says:

I’ll take push polling by libs or cons on the phone, over physical threats with night sticks at the actual polling places by the panthers in PA, any day.

Well as a Christian conservative who’s been a Republican for many years and only recently decided to become Independent – this survey is the best example as to WHY so many Republicans are now Independents. Including my own retired father, a Methodist minister and my mother – a CPA and estate planner. You don’t get much more conservative than my family.

The questions are full of factually incorrect suppositions used to create false inflammatory questions to create even more of a divide in Americans.

We’re tired of this. We no longer take what these people say at face value because they are liars. And look what they’ve done? They’ve created, along with the DNC, the impression that every liberal wants to kill unborn children and all conservatives think that aids is God’s punishment to gay people.

Well it’s crap. None of us feel that way and it’s time that we all stopped accepting political parties starting grass fires and arguments between people based on lies and misinformation.
