Strickland appoints Municipal Court judge to Hamilton County Common Pleas Court…
Since we’ve been following the whole judicial screening process, and the recent appointment of Keila Cosme, it seemed appropriate to share this release concerning the recent appointment of Nadine Allen to the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas sent via e-mail:
Columbus, Ohio – Ohio Governor Ted Strickland announced today the appointment of Nadine Allen to the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas.
Nadine Allen, 60, of Cincinnati, fills the seat vacated by the appointment of Judge William Mallory to the First District Court of Appeals.
“Nadine’s twenty-three years of service as judge for the Hamilton County Municipal Court makes her supremely qualified to serve on the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas,” Strickland said. “She has earned her reputation as a judge who cares deeply about the citizens who appear in her courtroom, and has repeatedly demonstrated her commitment to improving the Hamilton County community through action and focused problem solving.”
Allen will take the bench on December 15, 2010. To retain the seat, she must run in the November 2010 general election.
Allen has served as a judge for the Hamilton County Municipal Court since 1987. She previously served as a trial counsel for the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office from 1979-1984. Allen also served as a trial counsel for the Legal Aid Society of Cincinnati from 1978-1979. She is also a member of the NAACP and serves as an advisor the YWCA of Cincinnati’s Batterers’ Intervention & Prevention program.
Allen is also an active member of her community. She serves as a member of Drifters Inc. and as the co-founder of the Mosaic Life Ministries, which focuses on promoting ethnic diversity in worship. Allen previously served as a member of the Ohio Innocence Project from 2006-2009 and as the chair of the Valley Leadership Center from 2007-2009.
“I am honored by Governor Strickland’s appointment and look forward to continuing my work to ensure the citizens of Hamilton County have a neutral, unbiased court” Allen said.
Allen received a bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University in 1972 and a law degree from Capital University in 1977.

Groundbreaking! This appointee has actually been a judge and has significant legal experience! Other attorneys and the Cincinnati Bar Assn. have apparently heard of her! Does the gov have a screw loose or something?
He’s also got an appointment to make in Mansfield (the city, not the prison). Let’s see if a trend develops.
