Lucas County Celebrates America Recycles Day
The Board of Lucas County Commissioners Announces Local Partnership for America Recycles Day Event at the Toledo Zoo
Sunday, November 15, 2009 is America Recycles Day (ARD). ARD is a nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and to buy recycled products. The Lucas County Board of Commissioners and its partners are encouraging residents to join millions of Americans nation-wide pledging to increase their recycling habits by participating in a local event. Residents are asked to bring Athletic Shoes, Cell Phones, Printer Ink Cartridges, Aluminum Cans, Computers and Computer Accessories (no other electronics please) to the Toledo Zoo Anthony Wayne Parking Lot from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to be recycled .
Through the support of America Recycles Day, Keep America Beautiful, Inc. (KAB) and the National Recycling Coalition (NRC) ARD raises awareness by educating citizens about the benefits of recycling. The purpose of America Recycles Day is to continue to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and encourage more people to join the movement toward creating a better natural environment.
