A nation divided as anonymous asshats run amok…

10 Nov 2009

I read about this on Jill’s facebook, she’s also posted it on her blog, Writes Like She Talks, she read it on Nookular Option who read it on America Blog who took the commenters running amok from Politico…That’s the complete disclosure/attribution…Elie Wiesel a holocaust survivor and author took issue with one of the posters used at a Tea Party demonstration earlier this week, Think Progress has the photo. Wiesel said, “This kind of political hatred is indecent and disgusting” — which generated some pretty hateful commentary from those claiming to be from both sides of the aisle in the comments at Politico.

A few which I think demonstrate the divide our nation is currently facing, it’s also a good reminder for those of you who think things here are at times less than civil as to how civil most of us here really are…There are some comments on the Politico post from both sides that are “reasonable” but the hatred from both sides is impossible to ignore and I think it’s only fair to point out those from both sides, there’s enough shame to go around and those deserving of the asshat title as well…

As somebody who is anti-pedophile and anti-having children with your sister, I take great pride in keying, throwing a brick through the window, or taking out all four tires of a car with a Failure/Chaney bumper sticker still on it; and I’ll always lie to and rip off somebody who wears their GOP or Christian faith where I can see it. Does it really matter what the worthless GOP cum-guzzlers say? Not to me. I just take it out in them harder. So don’t get mad. Get even. They are the most gullible and the single dumbest white inbred morons walking the planet, so walk all over them. I take great pride in costing them money any time I can and I’ve been doing it for twenty years now. And I’ll continue to trash them until their fake invisible douchbag god stops me… Which obviously will never happen..

If these rightwing nutsacks can’t see the disgust in a sign showing graphic photographic detail of 100’s stacked corpses of innocent Jew from Dachau with wordage saying that was also government health care, then there is absolutely nothing rational in their thoughts or debate. You are truly un-American.

Ok. Idiot alert. Apparently some left wing people managed to infiltrate the tea party and planted the anti-Semitic nazi hate stuff. Are you right-wingers so far gone you actually believe that? Wow. I know the LaRouchian’s are out and about, but these tea parties have been full of this crap since the beginning. Plugging your ears and saying it was a plant is just about the most intellectually dishonest thing I’ve ever seen.

Pffftt… this, once again, is one of the oldest tricks in the Alinsky playbook. Slither a few ACORN, MoveOn, Code Pinko types into an event like this and then act as outrageously as possible, knowing the clueless, narrow minded Leftists will take the bait every time. Real Americans, those who respect and abide by the US Constitution, aren’t fooled.

See how much of a “spine” you Christian Fundamentalists grow after 6 million of YOUR people are mass murdered in a genocide. You people are truly the scum of the Earth.

Please, it’s not anti-semitism, tea-baggers hate blacks too. Their rally was a sea of dumb white trash. GOP. Greed Over People.

Elie Wiesel: Newest, most current tool of the sick, perverted, racist, anti-semetic Democrap party. Have you no shame Democraps?

F YOU! There was no antisemitism you twits! The conservatives back Israel and we can’t figure out why you turn your backs on your own faith! Isralites may be a “stiff-necked people,” but most American jews are not very religious and many are outright unbelievers, Jews in name only.

Hey, its cool to protest only if you are smoking dope and destroying everything. If it is normal folks, scream racism. Funny how the Socialists are that way!

Elie Weisel is disgusting PR-seeking profiteering demagogue who has made a fortune off playing on the world’s guilt trips about the what happened to the Jews during WW2. Most objective WW2 researchers agree now that the beastial Nazi’’s, who happened to be anti-capitalist Socialists, killed even more Slavs and Gypsies in their concentration camps than Jews, but you don’t see the Slavs and Gypsies trying to profit off the “Holocaust” like some of the shameless powerful Jews in the media. BTW… I have Gypsy relatives on my mother’s side of the family that were killed by Nazi’s.

Those muff div**s and fudge pa**ers amongs you who enjoy calling folks teabag***s should give it a rest.

The teabagging teabaggers love to teabag with other teabaggers. Teabaggers and teabagging teabaggers. You sick teabagging teabaggers who like to teabag! How’s that?!

Anna, It sounds like you are not happy with the size of your last cucumber. Don’t sound on Ben because of your frustrations. Do like Nancy Pelosi and buy yourself an electric toy …be careful, Nancy’s toy mal-functioned and caught her A^^ on fire. That accounts for that glazed look in her eyes.

Many of us think our elected officials do not show us the respect we deserve. They work for us, they need to remember that. It would be nice if our elected misrepresentative would have met face to face with constituents during the August recess instead of going to Poland. Last time I checked, Polish citizens didn’t vote in US elections.

When respect is given, it is reciprocated.

Pam – I’m not sure what Marcy going to Poland has to do with Tea Baggers holding up pics of the holocaust and trashing Jewish people when they get mad at the comparison of affordable health care for all and genocide.

As for Marcy not showing you respect by not having a townhall meeting so you can show her respect by scream incoherent things like “I don’t want government run Medicare” is just silly (I’d use much stronger word but LR would just delete it).

    Thanks Sensor.

I’m not sure what a lack of respect for or to elected officials has to do with this either, these comments were made by people not electeds. The level of discourse at times here gets bad, but thankfully never as bad as is being displayed elsewhere. Which leads me to wonder how we can solve anything unless this stops and the hatred from both sides, quits being at the forefront.

    Tricia Taylor Says:

    Lisa Renee,

I agree that we will never solve anything unless this stops and the hatred from both sides quits being at the forefront. Sometimes, when the folks who disagree with you run out of rhetoric, they don’t just call nasty names to general groups of people, but make very hurtful malicious remarks and don’t just call names, they name names.

I was recently the victim of such a vicious attack on facebook on Tricia Lyons’ facebook page. Let me be very clear that these attacks did NOT come from Tricia and as soon as she discovered the posts the deleted them, and I am forever grateful for her kindness.

Let me preface this by saying that while I was blessed with a biting wit, I was not blessed with a V-chip. I make no apologies for being a hippy liberal democrat who is in favor of health reform that includes a public option. I understand that there are folks on the other side who vehemently disagree with my opinions, which of course, is their right.

However, the political turned not just personal but very ugly. Craig Rower, the mayor of Fayette, called me a thief, a socialist, and the… well… a word that describes a woman that begins with a c that if my son ever uttered would immediately lead to his mouth being washed out with soap. Please be mindful I am the daughter of a Canadian sailor who herself swears like a sailor but cringe at the utterance of this word. He called me this because I disagree with his views on healthcare.

One of his colleagues on the Fayette village council, Jerry Gonzalez, decided Craig’s insults did not dig deep enough and he wrote this, “OK I remember Tricia-Taylor whatever, she is the one who had to live off the public dole because she got knocked up, but it wasn’t her fault, just her evil, evil conservative husband. She got her education, babysitting and everything else paid for by EVERYONE else. Now I know why she is for this. Its always easier to support this kind of legislation when you get the benifit of everyone elses hard work. Now give her a medal so she can breed some more and continue the cycle. But remember, everyone else is just heartless becasue they won’t just give her their hard earned money with a smile. Don’t you just hate it when someone throws the facts back at you.”

While Mr. Rower’s comments are clearly defamatory and just plain mean, the comments of Mr. Gonzalez are flat out lies. He says I had to go on the public dole because I got knocked up, insinuating that I went on welfare as soon as my children were born, when in fact, I was married when all three of my children were born.

He says I received free eduction, babysitting and everything else. I attended Ohio Wesleyan University on an academic scholarship, and what was not covered by scholarship was covered by my tips as a waitress and PLUS loans that my mother took out. I continued to wait tables on top of my journalism gigs to pay those loans back. When I attended graduate school at MCO, I took out both private and public loans, which I am now paying back and have never missed a payment. As for babysitting, I paid for most of my childcare required to attend graduate school out of my own pocket. My last 2 semesters of grad school my youngest child entered the ELI program. I did have to go on foodstamps for two brief periods when I had exhausted all other resources. However, by the Grace of God, I was able to hang on to my house, although I came very close to losing our home. He seems to insinuate that I currently do not work or have never contributed to society, when in fact I have been employed since I was 14. I currently work a full time job and a part time job.

He also insinuates that I am raising my children in some sort of cycle, and I presume he means a cycle of poverty. However, I am raising my children in a loving Christian home.

Which leads me to the most hurtful post of all, from David Prez Washington, who wrote that I was a Godhater whose actions clearly indicate how evil I am and that I have a disdain for all Christians.

I can’t count the tears I have shed over such a hateful, ill informed comment. When I emailed Mr. Washington to insist on an apology, he emailed me Bible verse after Bible verse to try to justify his insults. Even when I told him how hurt I was and how he made me cry, he insinuated that I somehow had it coming and that I should repent for my sins.

He said I cannot deny the truth that I am evil. These are not the words of a Christian, these are the words of a bully.

Tricia Lyons did the right thing by deleting the entire thing and sending me a gracious apology for being asleep or away from her computer as this was happening. Thank you, Tricia, so much.

Lisa Renee is right. We will never solve anything unless this stops.

Wish I could give you a big hug and tell you face to face how proud I am of you for handling yourself so well in the face of such nasty anger and lies. I may be far away but you have 100% of my support! Fair play, Tricia, for how you are handling this.

    Pam Says:

    Sensor,

Read what I said. Why did she go to Poland instead of respecting her constituents (all, not just those that voted for her) and hold town hall meetings where she would be asked tough questions, not softballs as usually thrown at her. Her “telephone town hall was a joke. I once was part of a telephone forum on casinos in Ohio. If your question does not fit the agenda, you don’t get to ask it. You just sit there and listen until you hang up the phone. Our representatives work for us and our accountable to us. Merely calling her office and speaking to an unelected staff member that most of the times says, “I do not know how the congressman plans to vote,” doesn’t cut it. Do you dispute that?

Please, do you forget what your side did to President Bush????? You are not getting away with your “trashing Jewish people. Who the hell did that? Don’t run your mouth without backing it up. It was also your messiah, barry sotero that called the tea party movement, teabaggers while twisting the arms of the house dems before last Saturday’s debacle of a bill vote. Oh and Bill Clinton while speaking to some democratic senators just two days ago called us teabaggers. Bill Clinton is the ultimate teabagger, you know Monica Lewinsky, stained blue dress, oval office and no Col. Mustard was nowhere near the joint. One is the current president, one a former trashing a lot of citizens of this country. You want to talk trash talk and throwing insults, take these two to task if you want some credibility.

Sorry if Marcy wants respect, she has to earn it. She represents all citizens in her district, not just the ones that voted for her. She is accountable to us. She wanted that gig, well face the music sister. If your boss wanted to speak to you, would you just run off to Poland?

  9. 9
    Pam Says:

    Lisa,

It all starts with how our elected officials treat the citizens of this country. I for one am sick of the politics of usual and politics as usual. I’m tired of politicians not respecting the voices of the people. The only time they seem to respect us is at election time when they buttkiss and pander to the eclectorate. Look at the mess our country is in, who is to blame???? The people in office, both parties that let special interest and lobbyist influence their votes. So yes, our elected officials are to blame for the lack of respect we see in this country. I’m sick of working hard only to see more and more of my income taxed away from me. I want our elected leaders to follow the Constitution.

Why don’t you lecture Sensor on showing some civilty when posting. He didn’t need to respond directly to me. He could have posted without using my name. He chose to start it with me so I have every right to respond. I’m sure if you took all these posts you list in the full context, you would see someone started it and it goes from there. This blog is certainly not immune to that.

  10. 10
    LisaRenee Says:

Pam, I try to have the same expectations from everyone, and I didn’t comment on the civility of either of you, just pointed out that Sensor was correct that I’d edit out a stronger word and that this particular post was about people being hateful on the internet, not directly related to elected representatives, especially Marcy.

As the post stated, this blog is one of the more civil places where those of all political persuasions debate/discuss. When you read the comments made on Politico and other places, and read what was written to Tricia, that drives that home.

I’m not sure I agree with the connection of Marcy refusing to go to one of the Children of Liberty sponsored townhalls that were pretty much created with the idea that she wouldn’t appear, is a reason why many people who are Liberal and Conservative are treating each other with so little respect all over the country. There is a clear disconnect, I’m just not sure how much we can blame the electeds for it and not take personal responsibility for part of it.

Wow Pam… absolutely amazing, I can’t believe you didn’t work in “birth certificate” and “death panels”.

    Pam says:
You are not getting away with your “trashing Jewish people. Who the hell did that? Don’t run your mouth without backing it up.

    Here it is again…

    http://nookularoption.blogspot.com/2009/11/teabaggers-to-holocaust-survivor-stop.html

John Aravosis points out some truly heinous comments by tea-baggers, in response to Holocaust survivor and Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel’s criticism of a tea bagger. Some highlights:

“Rothschilds nothing! Everyone knows that Obama is George Soros sock puppet. Wasn’t Soros Jewish once upon a time? May the Schwartz be with you.”

“The jews need to clam up and accept the fact that they are in a Chritian country.”
“This hollowcost thing is totally overblown by the jewish.”

“Eli Wiesel should just go back to Indonesia. I don’t see him condemnig the terrorist shooter at Fort Hood.”

“Elie is a whiner. She should stop her whining. You didn’t not complane when the libs were calling Bush Hitler.”

“You know what? The fact is that at a time in history, The Rosthchild family controlled practically everything. This is a fact. Not anti semitic. I resent the Jewish outrage at everything. I am a tea partier. obama is a Marxist and takes his orders from George Soros… it is similar and these people need to get a life., Why any Jew would support the Obama administation is a mystery anyway. He is a Muslim sympathizer and the greatest threat to Israel ever to sit in the White House. Wake up Jewish community. Take off the blinders.”

Pam – why do you take it so personally? You post something and I responded. It’s sort of how a blog works. If you don’t want anyone to respond or call you on anything, simple type your manifesto into a word document and save it to your computer.

  12. 12
    Pam Says:

    Lisa,

My point is a lot of this lack of civility is caused by our elected representatives. Meeting with constituents is part of the job and the Children of Liberty members are tax payers and residents of Marcy’s district that have questions and comments they would like her to hear. She shouldn’t pick and choose whom she chooses to meet with. It is a lack of respect when an elected official totally ignores a group of people. Not even having the courtesy and fortitude to respond to them is a total lack of respect. This angers people and it goes from there. Many people feel their very freedom and liberty is threatened. People posting comments don’t have the power of voting on laws that change people’s lives, politicians do.

It’s not only the comments, how about people beaten by SEIU members, how about black panther members in front of polling places with billy clubs, how about our current president referring to US citizens exercising their right to protest his almost 2000 page monstrosity of a bill that many fear will trample their very freedoms and liberties calling them the vulgar term, teabagger. Did you Real respect and civility there.

I’m so sure those name in your above post were as deeply concerned with the hatred and disgusting behavior of many while President Bush was in office. In case you couldn’t tell, I’m being sarcastic.

  13. 13
    LisaRenee Says:

Some of us were concerned, myself included. I don’t believe bad behavior excuses bad behavior, I’ve never accepted the rationalization that if someone does something wrong it’s okay for someone else to do the same thing. My theory of “if it’s wrong, it’s wrong” has been one of the motivating factors behind this blog. It’s why at times I’m not popular with my own party and at times with others.

Therefore, I don’t believe it’s justification to treat people as what happened on that thread or many other places based on the refusal of a Congressperson to meet with a group nor do I think that’s the reason this is happening on a national scale.

  14. 14
    LisaRenee Says:

Further, I have consistently expressed concern about the respect of the presidential office being diminished, and stated that if Democrats did win the office, how could they expect to be treated with respect given what had happened by some that it was up to ALL of us to return the office to the respect it once held. I hoped that both sides would “be the bigger persons” but it’s clear, both sides contain those not willing to demonstrate they should lead by example rather than lead by justification.

  15. 15
    kateb Says:

To Tricia who posted her experience above- I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. I have a very differing position on the health care initiative but I absolutely respect your right to have your own opinion.

As you say yours is a Christian home – I probably don’t need to say this, but the treatment that you were dealt is in diametric opposition with Christs teachings. So please don’t take those lashing Bible verses seriously in that context.

Even the devil quotes the Bible when it suits his purposes

One way or another the Presidents initiatives will be resolved. And we’ll all still go on – we’re hardly the first generation to face polarizing issues – and we won’t be the last.

What defines people’s character is how they respond to these situations

  16. 16
    SensorG Says:

Pam – I don’t think yelling at a congress person and not letting them talk is showing respect. Call me old fashion.

When I looked at Bush as President I felt his policies where bad for America. I do believe he thought they were good and what he was doing the right thing.

The difference is many conservative/912ers and yes “teabaggers” think that Obama and progressives want what is worse for the country, to destroy her, to see her sufferer.

I have more to say on this, but I’m going to bed.

I believe that this last above comment speaks for itself in context with the thread title.

    Doug Says:

I guess what I get from this article is that both sides are guilty of idiotic fanaticism, but on that note, it rarely represents the majority. So when I hear people try to discount rallies, protests, and movements by saying it’s just racist rednecks or communist liberals (whatever side your on for whatever cause), I tend to stop listening to you. Usually there is an intelligence and justification behind everything and that is what should be debated and discussed. Not throwing out examples and links of pictures showing the worst of our worlds. It’s a silly innefective tactic because I do not think it would change one opinion. Logical discourse is the only thing that can.

  19. 19
    Tom Mo Says:

    Good point Kate.

I am curious as to how certain people get offended by some people on the right when they say “Democrat Party” instead of “Democratic Party.” But then others on the left try to call the tea party movement “teabaggers” which is sick and vulgar.

At least saying “Democrat Party” isn’t perverted.

    Pam Says:

    SensorG Says:

Wow Pam… absolutely amazing, I can’t believe you didn’t work in “birth certificate” and “death panels”.

My point proven about you Sensor. Why did you say that??????? How civil of you.

Many people use the example of the Holocaust to illustrate how an insane dictator tried to decimate a whole race of people. Have you every been to the Holocaust Museum in DC. I have and it’s chilling. Many of the nazi tactics there in plain view are being used by politicians today. Especially reading where Hitler was a very charasmatic leader that used the media forum of the day, radio, to “enlighten” his people. He also used the children, the Hilter Youth. Your post mentioned George Soros, this vile pig at he age of 15 worked with the nazis turning in fellow jews and he doesn’t even regret doing that.

Try going to a high school football game where rival teams are playing. Try being Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber or even Carrie Prejean. These people have and are having their very character assassinated because of their viewpoint.

Well let’s just look at this recent example of civility shown by the group, Code Pink

    From the American Thinker

Code Pink deliberately targets kids from military families
    Rick Moran

Imagine you’re a youngster, a child of a parent who serves in the military. You are invited to “trick or treat” at the White House on Halloween night.

As you are standing in line, a parade of goblins and ghosts passes by. But these are no ordinary specters. They are members of Code Pink dressed up to make the point that your military parents are fighting in evil wars.

Kristinn Taylor and Andrea Shea King of Big Government have the story:

Dressed as ‘zombie soldiers’ killed in combat, ‘ghosts of war victims,’ witches and healthcare fairies, members of Code Pink menacingly paraded in front of a captive audience of children one block from the White House, who waited along the sidewalk in front of Decatur House just off Lafayette Park for a Halloween party hosted by President Obama.

Last Saturday, the President hosted several hundred military families for trick or treating. Also invited were children of White House staff and about 2000 children from eleven D.C. area elementary schools.

In a press release published at their website, key Obama ally Code Pink – a group co-founded by one of Obama’s top funders Jodie Evans, announced they were targeting military families for what can only be called psychological abuse by conducting a macabre protest of the war in Afghanistan as the families waited in line to enter the White House grounds.

Dressed in fatigues with a bloody bandage wrapped around her head, Benjamin loudly moaned as she emoted being a ‘zombie soldier’, while holding a black cut-out of a rifle and wearing a pink sign that read, “The White House is haunted by the ghosts of Bush’s war.”

That’s just what children of soldiers fighting for our freedom should see, yes? Well, if your intent is to wage psychological warfare on the families of our troops to aid our terrorist enemies then the answer would indeed be, “yes.”

Well isn’t that special. We don’t know if there were any kids in that line who lost a parent in war, but neither does Code Pink. The fact that they carried out the protest in the first place shows they wouldn’t have cared one way or another.

Another stunning bit of idiocy from a group known for it.

    Not Again Says:

I agree TM, the use of “teabagger” is perverted AND vulger, and I think we have a good example in Billy Clinton.

  22. 22
    LisaRenee Says:

The real definition for the word “tea bagging” and “tea bagger” can be either vulgar or not.

    link.

It’s similar to many other words, and most people who are referencing the Democratic party to insult use their own colorful names. Having been called a variety of names worse than the sexual reference of a teabagger, I suggest people just remember they are only words and make it their mission if they do not like such behavior aimed at them to not aim it at others…

Code Pink does not speak for most of us just as I’m sure those who left very anti-semitic comments do not speak for most of you who are conservative. It is however a great example of how the left is assumed to be in agreement with one group’s action and this existed prior to the current tea party movement.

  23. 23
    Pam Says:

    Lisa,

I agree that the very extremeists on both sides do not speak for the majority. However, this has always been a part of our political party system. It would also be nice if the sitting president would not insult a lot of citizens by calling them the vulgar term “teabagger.” It would also be nice if cable networks like msnbc and cnn wouldn’t have chosen this word to describe the tea party movement. I do not mean “you” specifically here when I say the following. You have to clean up from within. Why not take issue with the extremeists in your own party and call out the bad behavior. This lack of civility didn’t start with the 2008 election. It was going on long before that. Some people just can’t take it when it’s dished back at them.

  24. 24
    SensorG Says:

    Pam,
You’re all over the place and you’ve managed weave about every conspiracy theory and right wing buzz word into your posts (Marcy/Poland, calling President Obama, Barry Sotero, Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, SEIU, blank panthers, code pink and calling Soros a Nazi collaborator), that is why I joked about you not mentioning “birth certificate” and “death panels”.

Calling you on stuff and saying you’re wrong doesn’t make me uncivil. Now, I’m not always civil to be sure, but I have a tendency to reflect back what’s in front of me.

Maybe when Tea Party members (calling you TPer’s seems oddly appropriate too j/k) stop referring to Liberals and Progressives as socialists and communists we’ll return the favor because I find it just as vulgar being called those as you do being called a teabagger.

  25. 25
    Pam Says:

    SensorG,

Practice your saul alinsky tactics elsewhere. I didn’t start with you, you started with me. How is saying anything about the fact that Marcy Kaptur did go to Poland during the August recess a conspiracy theory??? You don’t make any sense and you sound totally irrational. Are you also saying the Monica Lewinsky scandal never happened to Bill Clinton? Are you saying George Soros never turned over fellow jews to the nazis? The black panthers did stand in front of polling stations with billy clubs during the 2008 presidential election. Code Pink are a vile, disgusting bunch. Where am I wrong?

Clean your own house first, wash the windows of your glass house, then talk.

Now kindly leave me alone. I have every right to my opinion. This post is about asshats running amok, you don’t have to take that so literally.

I guess I could easily post a bunch of stuff about right wing voter intimidation (here or here) or point out Right Wing sex scandals (just Google South Carolina Sex Scandals), VPs shooting people in the face, Right Wing ‘Christians‘ shooting people in church, etc…

Yes they are all true, but they are they aren’t the norm and I don’t view all conservatives that way, so that is why I address you.

Not Again –If you truly think progressives like me are communists how can we even begin to hold a civil conversation. I am my no means a communist or a socialist for that matter.

Are you dense, stupid, igorant, all the above. Stop displaying what a total asshat you are. I have already told you to leave me alone now STFRU!

    Lisa,

You only have to look at SensorG, it seems he likes to start problems with people that have a differing point of view and in the very thread that has to do with both sides showing civility.

  32. 32
    SensorG Says:

    Pam – I’ll repear what I said before –

Pam – why do you take it so personally? You post something and I responded. It’s sort of how a blog works. If you don’t want anyone to respond or call you on anything, simple type your manifesto into a word document and save it to your computer.

Pam, if you post something that I disagree with, on a topic that interests me, I will respond. I would expect the same.

  33. 33
    Pam Says:

What is your problem with me? This is not the first time you have done this with opinions I have posted. If you don’t like what I post, ignore it. Show some civility. You are irrational and probably deeply disturbed. Remember, you started with me. I only defended myself. The trouble with you is how you respond. In your mind conservatives are always wrong.

Now I will repeat myself – LEAVE ME ALONE AND
    S T F R U!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. 34
    SensorG Says:

    Pam –

I have no problem with you, I have no idea who you are. As for “If you don’t like what I post, ignore it”, doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of a blog?

I could easily say “If you don’t like what Marcy is doing, ignore her.”

You now have used profanity twice against me and called me deeply disturbed. I generally comment on your opinions and post, you comment on ME. It’s never about what I write in response to your writing, it’s always about “you and me” with you and then you accuse me of being uncivil.

Again – why you take it so personally? Why not start your own blog where people can read what you write, but can’t comment back.

  35. 35
    Not Again Says:

I think Ms Dunn is definitely a Maoist. Why do you think obama dumped her? She blew her own cover, in her arrogance. You won’t see much more of that from his administration, at least, not publicly.

  36. 36
    SensorG Says:

Not Again – How is Ms Dunn a Maoist? Progressives aren’t Communists. Heck, even most communists aren’t Maoists.

  37. 37
    Not Again Says:

You right, the Chinese communists are turning to capitalism to grow their economy, although they still adhere to the Maoist fundamentals of command and control and destruction of those that question the state.

  38. 38
    SensorG Says:

Not Again – you don’t know why Dunn is a “Maoist” do you? Perhaps it was something you were told and that good enough for you?

  39. 39
    LisaRenee Says:

We are going off topic again…Pam if you don’t want to discuss anything with Sensor, you don’t have to respond to him. If he were to break the rules of the site, it would be an issue, while I can not tell him or anyone to not comment on a comment, I can tell everyone they don’t have to respond to someone that does. You both have the same right to state your opinion on the topic of the thread, to agree or to disagree, you can reference what another person said or you can ignore that person’s existence and respond to others.

  40. 40
    Pam Says:

    Lisa,

SensorG started with me first. I told him politely to please leave me alone. He should have abided by that. He kept it up with me and I’m not going to take his leftist bullying.

Did he really need to add this?

    SensorG Says:

Not Again, you pulled what will be here by called “Pulling a Pam”…you randomly throw in yet another right wing talking point (I really need to start a bingo blog game).

What I post is my opinion. It’s hilarious that SensorG chooses to go after me for expressing my opinion in a thread about asshat posters and their lack of respect.

  41. 41
    Pam Says:

    Listen SensorG

I did not use profanity. Initials are not profanity and yes, you are deeply disturbed when I ask you to leave me alone and you keep it up. Your posting, “Pulling a Pam” and saying I use right-wing talking points was uncalled for. I post my opinion.

As for ingoring Marcy, why should I? She is an elected representative that works for her constituents. She is accountable to all constituents, not just the ones that agree with her or voted for her. She is a public servant and it is the job of every citizen to question and hold their representatives accountable. Why do you take criticism of her so personally? Do you work for her?

You have gone after me in other threads because of my opinion and I for one will not stand for your bullying leftist tactics.

  42. 42
    SensorG Says:

    Pam –

It all started because you posted something and I replied. Again, this is how it works. I didn’t know I needed your permission to address you on Lisa’s blog.

So, how did I go after you again? How am I bullying you? Did I curse at you? Or call you “deeply disturbed”?

Why do you take it personally when I disagree with you? Admittedly the “pulling a Pam” thing was me taking a poke after trying to herd cats in the pervious conversations.

  43. 43
    Pam Says:

I asked you to stop and you kept it up.

I have never taken your disagreeing with me personal. Disagree, that is fine. Don’t add stuff like “pulling a Pam.”

  44. 44
    Sue Says:

To me it is not just politicians
who show absoluely no respect pr
    listen to their citizens.

It is every where not just in government but in public departments, departments,
    private businesses, and families themselves/

Lack of respect and civility is a
    nationwide epidemic which is much
worse for all of us then the
    H1N1 or an other sickness!

Do we have a vaccine for it??

  45. 45
    SensorG Says:

The “pulling a Pam.” was the culmination of a long thread. Please don’t pretend that instigated anything. The conversation and the thread were long broken by then.

Why do you get to tell me to stop posting my opinion? Why do you get post your opinion and decide when others should and shouldn’t be allowed to reply to it?

And when you tell others that they aren’t allowed to post any more how does that become a personal attack when the choose to?

You’ve repeatedly said or implied that if I don’t like your opinion, I should ignore it or “STFRU”. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to participate on the blog? When did your word become the final word?

  46. 46
    MikeyA Says:

Congratulations Pam! You’ve managed to annoy Sensor more than Sarah Palin.

That’s not an easy feat and I applaud you for it.

  47. 47
    SensorG Says:

Not annoyed, but confused by the response for sure!

And I love Sarah Palin, I can’t imagine a person who better sums up all the best qualities of conservatives. I want to see more of her. Please, please, please keep her on the TV talking!

    PALIN 2012!

  48. 48
    Not Again Says:

I think he is having fun, but I could be wrong.

  49. 49
    SensorG Says:

    Not Again –
Absolutely… you can’t take it personally when someone disagrees with you or it will just chew you up, life is too short.

I had a great high school teacher once tell me –
“If you don’t want someone to get your goat, don’t let them know where it’s at.”

The confusing part of this thread was, I wasn’t really going for the goat, I just couldn’t shake it.

MikeA and I would have put hits on each other with the volumes of stuff we’ve thrown at each other over the years if we took a different in opinion personally. In fairness his access to weapons is a bit greater than mine.

As a matter of fact Mike, I was in San Diego a few weeks ago, I should have looked you up for a beer. I didn’t even think about it till I was sitting in the Airport bar waiting for a flight home and I started taking to a Marine from Oak Harbor.

    truthseeker Says:

Re posts 1 & 2. Everybody knows Marcy ran away to Poland in an attempt to make it look like she had other things to do and couldn’t hold a town hall meeting.

And btw, SG – neither you nor anyone else knows what would go on in a Marcy town hall because SHE REFUSES TO HAVE ONE. She is completely guarded by her staff (whose salaries we pay) from almost any meaningful contact with her constituents.

Marcy’s good buddy ole pal John Dingell (Dem of course) has been quoted as saying Town Hall meetings go with the job. This running away to Poland made her look like a childish coward. Similar to when her opponent was a doctor, some years back, and she couldn’t debate him because she had girl scout meetings to attend. To further make herself look foolish at that time, she not only refused to debate her opponent, but then insisted she be interviewed separately from him… and the idiot media accommodated her.

And by the way – it’s not health care and it’s not reform. Our out of control congressmen are rewarding the insurance companies by forcing poverty stricken out-of-work Americans to buy something they cannot afford – under threat of jail and fines.

    http://republicans.waysandmeans.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=153583

Oh well, there are no posting boards that are not replete with “excusers” of the elite.

And until Marcy has a town hall, she is nothing but another elitist who thinks she does not have to respond to her constituents.

  51. 51
    SensorG Says:

truthseeker -what does screamer at Marcy accomplish? That is certainly not showing respect.

As for this bill – I would have rather had a robust public option at worst and Medicare for all at best but the corporations politicians won’t let that happen.

  52. 52
    MikeyA Says:

I would have enjoyed it Sensor. Right now I’m 3 hours from there but if all goes well I will be there in a month or two starting pre-deployment training but nothing is definite yet. Afghanistan is proving to be harder to get to than Iraq.

As for the thread I had to chuckle that it wasn’t me you were going round and round with. For a change I was the one sitting quietly.

  53. 53
    truthseeker Says:

Again – you don’t know what would have gone on at a Marcy town hall BECAUSE SHE NEVER HAS ANY. What does her hiding from the people who pay her salary accomplish? What did refusing to debate the good doctor some years back accomplish?

She makes pawlenty of big bucks. Congress just awarded itself a $6,000 raise while their “subjects” are losing their incomes in the hundreds of thousands. Her job is not to hide in Washington D.C. OR Poland so that she doesn’t have to answer any hard questions. One hard question that MANY of us are itching to ask is why in the world she would vote for a bill that subjects Lucas County residents – her bosses/constituents to monetary fines and jail time. Again – it’s not health care and it’s not reform. If Kaptur had to face her constituents, she would have no answer to that question.

She’s just another congressman who has been in there too long – like Dingell – and has as their main priority: keeping their cushy jobs so that they don’t have to deal with the real world, like their bosses do. I used to live in Dingell’s district, and voted for him when I was in my deluded Democrat phase. I have many “issues” with him, but AT LEAST HE HAD A TOWN HALL MEETING, and acknowledged that it was part of the job.

Dingell’s right, SG, and you are wrong.

    September 28th:

Representative Marcy Kaptur will host a forum tonight on food policy and urban agriculture. It will feature Dr. Wayne Roberts, an expert on food security. He’ll speak at 6:30 p.m. in the McMaster Center at the Toledo-Lucas County library’s downtown branch. He and Congresswoman Kaptur will be answering your questions.

    September 18th:

WASHINGTON – Representative Marcy Kaptur will join Acting Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Manufacturing Mary Saunders at the first Forum on Energy Efficiency in Manufacturing, September 21, in Toledo, Ohio. The U.S. Department of Commerce, in association with the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency, will release a Checklist for Corporate Energy Efficiency at the event. The Checklist outlines a step-by-step approach for U.S. manufacturers to become more energy efficient with links to resources for each step.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 — Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio (9th CD), issued the following news release:

Congresswoman Kaptur will participate in a “town hall meeting” on Wednesday morning, August 12, from 9-10 a.m. on award-winning WCPN Radio (90.3 FM). The town hall meeting will focus on jobs, health care, and other topics. Constituents can listen live on line and call in questions to 216-578-0903 or 866-578-0903 (toll free in Ohio).

May 12: ‘Families Coping’ Town Hall Meeting | Print |
Congresswoman Kaptur, participating in a virtual town hall meeting on WTOL-TV in Toledo, urged constituents to call her office if they need information on financial issues such as Social Security, foreclosures and unemployment. Kaptur also repeated her challenge to Northern Ohio residents to plant “victory gardens” this summer and donate a portion of the crop to local food banks.

    Just a few…

  55. 55
    truthseeker Says:

That’ll be a “town hall” like I’m Queen Elizabeth. A town hall meeting is where responsible and honorable congressmen meet face to face with their constituents/bosses, i.e., those who pay their enormous salaries, and of course she already knows that. Marcy’s constituents are tired of her staff brushing them off, and tired of her form letters. I know “Pam” above did call Kaptur’s office, because her staff gave me the exact same response when I called.

Town hall my eye – more like a cowardly response to her constituents repeatedly asking for face to face town hall’s where she would be required to explain herself and defend her votes which do not match the wishes of her bosses — we the people. She lost touch with reality long ago, and we were forewarned. I don’t recall the lady’s name, but one of her first two opponents warned that she was a Washington D.C. insider, not a hometown gal as she portrays herself. What an accurate prophecy that was.

Since Kaptur can’t bring herself to do that, maybe she should look for another job. One where the responsibilities are not too hard for her to handle.

  56. 56
    LisaRenee Says:

Two of those examples were personal appearances and not by phone. Kaptur isn’t hiding or ducking anyone, refusing to not accept the challenge of Children of Liberty is quite a bit different from what you stated, “BECAUSE SHE NEVER HAS ANY” – she does, there have been a large number of times she’s been in Toledo and accessible.

  57. 57
    Not Again Says:

    Kaptur needs to go!

  58. 58
    LisaRenee Says:

Well, so far no one has been very successful in running against her.

    election history

  59. 59
    Sue Says:

Kaptur seemed to do very well for a
lot of years; however, after several
    incidents and some other statements
she has made in the last several years she does needs
    to go.

Just need to find a good candidate, (which we have not had to date) to
    run against her!!

  60. 60
    LisaRenee Says:

When Sherrod Brown first was talking about leaving the House and running for the Senate, one of the reasons I pointed out it wasn’t a good idea is the diminished power of a freshman congressional member versus one who has risen through the system. He ran for the Senate, won and lost all of his house committee assignments, that his replacement in the House of course did not get…

It’s doubtful a Democrat would even run against Kaptur, which would mean those who want to replace Kaptur are suggesting a Republican and also someone who would not have years of seniority and appointments that do benefit this area. There are still a good many people in our area and outside of our area that respect Kaptur.

She does a better job in representing those who do not have a voice than many of our current elected representatives. She of course is not perfect, but? I wish there were more electeds willing to dedicate as much of their time to their office as she does.

  61. 61
    Sue Says:

    Yes, seniority and appointments are
one thing, but I am aware she has
lost the touch and understanding for
some of the issues of certain
    citizens in her district.

Many citizens say they voted for and wanted
CHANGE and with Kaptur on at least some
of the issues it is and will always be
her same old thinking, contacts, and ways.

  62. 62
    Sue Says:

    Article in Blade today regarding
    groups wanting someone other than
    Kaptur; however, there are many
other citizens that are not part of
    these groups!

  63. 63
    LisaRenee Says:

Yes, some conservatives, including the Children of Liberty group want to see someone other than Kaptur. I don’t know many Democrats who would agree with their candidates or even that Marcy Kaptur does not represent us well, but? I agree with the idea that those in office should be challenged during an election. The primary is partisan so it will be interesting to see what happens.

  64. 64
    truthseeker Says:

What the next challenger to Kaptur would do well to do is adopt the Mike Bell playbook.

Run as an Independent, and court Republican, Libertarian, and Independent support. But run as an Independent, not as a Republican. That is a non-starter. And when the D.O. ran against her, she was afraid and did INDEED duck debating him. I recall one citizen writing into the Blade editorial page at that time (not me or anyone I know), and the gentleman said that on the current political topics of that period, he felt that Kaptur should sit down and “be quiet”, because it was unacceptable for her to dodge debating her opponent, and then present her own un-challenged or debated ideas on anything.

  65. 65
    LisaRenee Says:

I’m interested in how an independent runs in a two party primary system. There is a Democratic primary and a Republican Primary for the Congressional seat.

  66. 66
    Not Again Says:

“Run as an Independent, and court Republican, Libertarian, and Independent support. But run as an Independent, not as a Republican.”

Run as an independent (as a democrat) in the democrat primary.

  67. 67
    LisaRenee Says:

You can’t, you have to meet filing requirements to run as a Republican or a Democrat.

  68. 68
    Not Again Says:

You can meet filing requirements, even if you meet them?

  69. 69
    Not Again Says:

    can’t
