Latta tells TFP Health Care bill is “smoke and mirrors”
Those of you who are not fans of the bill that the House passed and that is now in the hands of the Senate, might want to read, Latta: health care bill is ’smoke and mirrors’ by Toledo Free Press’s Kristen Rapin. The picture gives you the impact of the size of H.R.3962, I’ve actually read it, which is probably more than most can say.
One of my concerns wasn’t raised in the article, the 2.5% additional tax that is slated to begin in 2012 for those who do not have a “qualified health insurance plan” — I see it as a way that young people such as my older children will be forced to pay an additional tax when they are in the “danger years” that I identify as being 23 to 25, they will no longer qualify for health insurance from most of their parents plans but are also not established in a career that would provide health benefits and their wages are such where it could be difficult to purchase health insurance. Since they are under age 25, they do not qualify for the Earned Income Credit, unless they have a child, so they are taxed at the single rate as is.
Will this be something the Senate addresses is not clear, it’s not even clear at this point how the bill will fare in the Senate, some have declared it D.O.A.
This bill is unconstitutional. The government can not force you to buy anything. They also can not force you to buy healthcare for someone else. If you do not have insurance under this bill you can face jail time and fines. Sexual predators and pedophiles are given a slap on the wrist, how many times do we see someone with multiple d/u/i offenses, a muslim extemeist commits domestic terrorism at Ft. Hood and the administation will not call it exactly what it is and they want to jail American citizens for not buying health insurance??
Please give the exact verse in the Constitution that allows the government this power? My rights come from God, no other human being has the power to dictate what my rights are.
