Steel announces a 15 and 30 second commercial for Council run…

29 Oct 2009

This in via e-mail from the Steve Steel for Toledo City Council campaign:

Announcing the new Steel for Toledo ad!

The new Steel for Toledo 15- and 30-second TV advertisements will begin running on local stations and cable on Thursday, October 29th. The ads highlight my work on Council since appointment to Council in July.

The advertisements are also available on our campaign website, steelfortoledo.com.

My experience as President of the Toledo Board of Education prepared me to hit the ground running on Council. I have worked with fellow Council members to tackle the issues that matter most to Toledoans.

I’ve worked with several Council members on measures to balance the budget, which has recently been trimmed by $5.7 million to a projected $2.1 million remaining. Council has also recently passed a resolution I introduced strongly urging the Finkbeiner Administration to begin the process of hiring a new police class, and has tracked progress for a new fire class. The latter should begin in January, 2010.

I am also working to streamline regulations which I believe are too restrictive of businesses attempting to locate in Toledo, and I’m working behind the scenes on a plan to introduce a ‘one stop shop’ in a user friendly, on-line environment. These will help return good jobs to Toledo.

The ads also highlight the fact that our Council campaign has been endorsed by both the Toledo Police Patrolman’s Association and Toledo Fire Fighters, as well as businesses represented by the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce and Toledo Area Board of Realtors and labor organizations including the AFL-CIO, Port Council, UAW, AFSCME, Ironworkers, and IBEW, among others.
