Not Found message…
I love Wordpress as a blogging format but once in a while something goes wrong. If you have visited the past week or so and the template for the blog loaded but there was no content and a “Not Found” message – I haven’t quit blogging, there’s something wrong with the behind the scenes aspects of the blog. There’s no consistent pattern to it, so troubleshooting has been tricky. Someone wiser in the ways of Wordpress suggested it could be related to one of the plug ins that provide extra features to the blog so I’m in the process of a trial and error scenario of deactivating some of the plug ins to try to pinpoint which one it might be.
If you get the “Not Found” error – just wait a bit and when you return it should be working again.
Lisa,
When I get that error, I just click on the “Home” tab and the site comes up with all content as it normally does.

July 20th, 2010 at 1:44 pmCarol, that works for some but others have had it not work, it’s happened to me where that doesn’t always work which is why I didn’t offer it as a suggestion.
Hopefully I’ve found the plug in that was responsible in this last go round of trial and error. Just when I think I know a lot about Wordpress, I experience a new learning scenario.

July 20th, 2010 at 1:52 pmLisa, does GCJ endorse or recommend a particular browser?
As evil as Google is, I still like the Google Chrome Browser. I think Apple Safari is second, followed by Firefox. Internet Explorer doesn’t even make the list.
July 20th, 2010 at 2:17 pmI’ve designed the site so it will work in all browsers, when I change templates or add something new I check it in all of them, even the older versions of Netscape since a few readers use that. I have an emulator that lets me do that since themes and plug ins can be tricky with some of the browsers.
I personally use Google Chrome, except for on some of the governmental websites that won’t work properly then I use Firefox.
