Representative Nancy Garland is not from our area, but I think it’s important to see what other General Assembly members are doing for their districts compared to NWO and the topic of the job creation aspect of this new technology may also be of interest to some of you:

Rep. Garland Urges U.S. Dept. of Energy to Approve Lio Energy Systems Loan
Letter cites new jobs, major investments in Central Ohio

COLUMBUS – State Representative Nancy Garland (D-New Albany) today sent a letter urging the U.S. Department of Energy to approve a loan that would create 1,000 new jobs and result in major investments in Central Ohio. CODA Automotive in collaboration with Lio Energy Systems are seeking federal money to build a manufacturing plant for electric car batteries on East Broad Street.

“Lio will create a minimum of 1,000 American jobs and up to 2,000 direct positions and thousands of indirect jobs, yielding major economic benefits both here and across the country,” writes Rep. Garland in her letter dated today to U.S. Dept. of Energy Secretary Steven Chu. “Job creation on this scale is critical to our nation’s economic recovery.”

CODA Automotive and Lio Energy Systems, its subsidiary, applied for more than $400 million to the Advanced Technology Manufacturing Loan Program, housed in the U.S. Dept. of Energy. These low-interest loans are given to automobile and automobile parts manufacturers specializing in advanced technology vehicles.

The new plant, which would likely be located on East Broad Street in the lot across from Mount Carmel East, would make automotive-grade lithium ion batteries for CODA’s electric sedan, which should hit markets in the next 12-24 months.

“I am proud of the progress we have made toward attracting this new, high-tech industry to Ohio,” said Rep. Garland about writing her letter of support. “This smart, technology-based business plan will bring thousands of jobs to Central Ohio and all across our state. Federal dollars will help ensure this project gets off the ground quickly and begins helping Ohioans quickly.”
