Redividing Wards
Toledo is required to redivide the City into wards based on the 2010 census numbers. Legislation to do this needs to be passed at the July 12 Council meeting. According to the July 1 Friday packet, this ordinance follows the recommendation of the Plan Commission with the following adjustments:
shift 699 persons from Ward 4 to Ward 10
shift 2,788 persons from Ward 6 to Ward 14
shift 1,050 persons from Ward 12 to Ward 13
shift 365 persons from Ward 20 to Ward 19
The ordinance reflects the boundary changes in red. Other changes to the description are in pink.
The ordinance is ten pages long, so I’ve uploaded it to scribd for those of you interested in reading it:

Lisa, is it possible for you to show the map of the new ward changes and the current wards to better understand the changes? And is it perceived that sufficient conversation has been held with the communities or is this not required? And it would be interesting to hear the comments on how this affects the various wards.

A map of the changes wasn’t included, there was one in May – LINK and there were public meetings on the proposed changes, though they were not attended very well.
