Eggs and Economics Breakfast May 17
Open Door Ministry Hosts Mayor Mike Bell and RGP CEO Dean Monske
Toledo, Ohio – The first annual Eggs and Economics breakfast will provide local residents the opportunity to hear first-hand the economic development plans of both Toledo Mayor Mike Bell’s administration as well as those of the Regional Growth Partnership.
The event is scheduled for May 17 at Toledo’s Erie Street Market, 237 South Erie Street, with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and remarks at 8 a.m. Funds raised will help Toledo’s Open Door Ministry continue its residential program for men recovering from alcohol or drug addiction.
“We wanted to both provide residents the opportunity to hear what’s on the horizon for Toledo and the region’s economy as well as raise awareness for what needs to be done for homeless men who are trying to recover from alcohol and drug addiction,” said Dan Donovan, Open Door Ministry’s executive director. “Eggs and Economics is the perfect platform to accomplish both.”
The event will center on remarks by Toledo’s Mayor Bell and the recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Growth Partnership, Dean Monske, formerly Toledo’s deputy mayor for external relations. The two are among those responsible for the relationship with Dashing Pacific Group, Chinese investors who purchased the Docks complex along Toledo’s waterfront earlier this spring.
“Open Door Ministry has helped more than 1,000 men with 55 percent successfully remaining in recovery after leaving one of the four residences we operate,” Donovan said. “This event will help us finance our operation for the coming year. We don’t receive any funding from the United Way or any governmental agency.”
Tickets are available in advance from any member of the Open Door Ministry’s Board of Directors; by calling 1-800-517-2915; or going to www.opendoor-toledo.com. When the Web site opens, click on Contact Us and fill out the form, indicating the number of tickets required.
