Have you ever wondered what a human bone actually looks like? Maybe a heart? Or a lung? The chance to see for yourself is coming to Toledo next month, when Bodies Revealed opens at Imagination Station.
Bodies Revealed exposes the human body in unprecedented detail normally reserved for medical professionals. Visitors of all ages can look deep inside the meticulously dissected 10 full body specimens and more than 150 partial specimens, learn about human anatomy and see the effects that disease and unhealthy lifestyles have on the body.
“Bodies Revealed visitors will gain a fascinating look at the human body,” said Lori Hauser, executive director at Imagination Station. “The exhibition offers an eye-opening learning opportunity to literally see how the body works and how lifestyle choices impact the body.”
The exhibition takes visitors through a series of galleries that provide an up-close look inside our skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, circulatory and other systems of the body. Many of the full-body specimens are presented in vivid athletic poses, allowing visitors to relate to everyday activities. In addition, a multitude of organs are displayed, illustrating the damage that can result from poor lifestyle choices.
The exhibition offers incredible educational opportunities. Bodies Revealed provides stunning visuals and comparisons that are more powerful than you could ever find in a textbook illustration.
The human body specimens in Bodies Revealed are preserved through a revolutionary technique called polymer preservation. In the process, human tissue is permanently preserved using liquid silicone rubber that is treated and hardened. The end result is a rubberized specimen, preserved to the cellular level, showcasing the complexity of the body’s many bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and organs.
Bodies Revealed will be at Imagination Station in Downtown Toledo from May 21 through Sept. 18. Tickets will go on sale approximately two weeks prior to opening. The Exhibition, presented by Premier Exhibitions, Inc., is receiving worldwide acclaim, attracting nearly 15 million visitors from cities around the world.
