Columbus – State Representative Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) issued the following statement regarding the filing of a lawsuit in Franklin County Common Pleas Court this afternoon to ensure citizens are not denied access to the Ohio Statehouse in the future.
“This is about a fundamental American right: the right to petition the government . In a democracy, it is not for the government to decide which voices get heard. On Tuesday, there was an unprecedented lock-out and lock-down of the Statehouse building – a building that has been open to the public every day before this for events far larger than this protest. We are trying to ensure that what happened on Tuesday never happens again.”
A copy of the complaint should be available tomorrow.
