Columbus, OH – Governor Ted Strickland today appointed Brian Misencik as interim director for the Ohio Department of Commerce, effective Jan. 4. Director Kimberly Zurz resigned from her position and will move to a position with the State Employment Relations Board, effective Jan. 4.
“Brian has a depth of experience with the Department of Commerce and has overseen major projects as well as administrative duties,” Strickland said. “I know he will provide sound judgment and leadership to the department throughout the remaining days of transition.”
Misencik has been assistant director of the Department of Commerce since September 2009, and has served in several capacities in the department, including deputy director of administration from 2007 – 2009, and acting state securities commissioner from August 2007– October 2008. Misencik will serve as interim director until appointees by the governor-elect take office on January 10, 2011.
