COLUMBUS – The Ohio Women’s Democratic Caucus has named its leadership team for this session of the state General Assembly. The Chair of the organization will be Rep. Nancy Garland (D-New Albany), Vice Chair is Rep. Alicia Reece (D-Cincinnati), Rep. Connie Pillich (D-Montgomery) is the Secretary, Rep. Denise Driehaus (D-Cincinnati) will serve as Treasurer and Rep. Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) will be Policy Chair.
The Caucus works to increase and promote the presence of women in government and serves as a strategic force in advancing the quality of life socially, economically and politically for all women. The group comprises female, Democratic state representatives from across the state.
“As the newly elected chair of the OWDC, I look forward to working with this distinguished group of women to bring issues that are important to the women and families of Ohio before the Ohio House,” said Rep. Garland.
“During my tenure as Vice Mayor of Cincinnati, I championed a number of women’s issues including healthcare, pay equity, jobs, small business, and economic development,” said Rep. Reece. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with OWDC and serve as the Vice Chair to work with my colleagues on some of these issues at the state level.”
“I am thrilled to be the Policy Chair of the Women’s Caucus. The Women’s Caucus is a remarkable group of women who are dedicated to ensuring that women’s voices are heard,” said Rep. Fedor.
“I am honored to be selected as the Secretary of the OWDC and will work diligently to create meaningful legislation that reflects the specific needs and concerns of women in Ohio,” said Rep. Pillich.
“The OWDC is an incredible group of smart, passionate female legislators,” said Rep. Driehaus. “As a small business owner, I am used to juggling finances and having to make budget choices. I am honored to have been chosen to serve in this leadership role.”
The OWDC meets on a bi-weekly basis in Columbus.
