Drug Survey of Rossford students to be shared

schoolbusDrug Survey Results to be Shared at Board Meeting

On Monday, September 20, 2010, at 5:30 p.m. the results of “The Wood County Youth Survey 2010” will be presented to the Rossford Board of Education, as they pertain to Rossford School students specifically. The survey was conducted in February 2010 of all Rossford students in grades 5 through 12. William J. Ivoska, PhD will present facts regarding the survey and trends of use of Rossford students.

At a recent task force meeting of Communities Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol held August 30 in Bowling Green, Lorrie Lewandowski, ATOD Prevention Coordinator for the Wood County Educational Service Center, gave a brief summary of the ADAMAS survey, focusing on the alcohol statistics. Though alcohol use is up nationwide with youth, it is down in Wood County, including binge drinking which is below the national average. High school drinking is now reported at 58% in Wood County, which is down from two years ago at 70% but is still too high.

Jim Snider, ATOD Prevention Specialist for Rossford Schools, encourages parents and community members to attend this important Board meeting.
