The deadline to file for candidacy has passed, however since it’s being reported that Norm Witzler, Republican candidate for the Lucas County auditor race, there is a stipulation in the election laws that would allow Gina-Marie Kaczala to run as is being reported in the Blade – LINK.

If the Republican party agrees and she files by Monday, August 9 at 4:00 p.m. — From the Election calendar for Ohio:

Aug. 9 — Political party or independent candidate’s nominating committee must certify name of person to fill vacancy on ballot caused by withdrawal of candidate by 4 p.m. (86 days before the election)

As per the Blade LINK:

Mrs. Kaczala, 49, of Ottawa Hills, and Mr. Stainbrook filed at the office of the Lucas County Board of Elections to put her name on the Nov. 2 ballot.

She was endorsed Sunday by the Lucas County Republican Party’s executive committee to replace Norm Witzler, who withdrew last week as the GOP’s nominee to run against Democratic Auditor Anita Lopez.
